Swimming with Dolphins
« on: July 18, 2008, 03:55:00 PM »
They showed the lady that is on the travel channel swimming w/dolphins recently.  I think I'd really like to do that.

Has anyone here had that experience?

Theres a beach on Oahu on the north shore where dolpnins swim constantly. its a lagoon lype of beach with access for entrance and exits that the dolphins take advantage of. it wasnt made specifically for them, they just got accustom to it. when people go kayaking or surfing they swim rigtht up to you. i went there once, it was very cool. scary at first cause its a dark shadow with a fin even though you know its a dolphin, i think back to jaws 3. they move through the water like nothing. going into any angle on a dime. there is no way a shark could catch them. theyve been known to pester sharks actually. you can touch them alot when there next to you.

Going out to Yokohama on Oahu you can see pods of a 100+ Spinner Dolphins less than a 1/4 mile off shore.  When my oldest daughter had her boat she went out there and swam with them.  If you do it in a controlled place like some of the hotels in Hawaii and other places if you are a women you should NOT be on your period.  The dolphins get very aggressive towards you.  Here are both my daughters at the Kahala Madarin with some.  My friend ran the show there so whenever they came to town before moving there I took them so they could play when they wanted

There was a company called Dolphin Quest that had several "Dolphin Encounters" at hotels on Oahu and the Big Island.  I think they might have had a location or two on the mainlaind?

Yah. Come out to So Cal and I'll take you.  It's like playing with a big smooth-skinned water-dog.

sharks have mostly no interest in you as a human what so ever, talk to a friend of mine from South Africa who says he goes surfing nearly every day and has encountered endless amount of sharks.
