Best diet for a natural putting on muscle
« on: July 23, 2008, 08:21:24 PM »
Years ago I tried Dan Duchaine's Body Opus diet, and I must admit that it did work fantastic in terms of getting lean and building muscle at the same time.  I believe the ratios were 30% Protein and 70% fat with zero carb for five days, and then two days of VERY high carbohydrate and moderate protein.

The problem with this was just that it was SO hard to stick with.  My weekends were consumed by eating corn flakes and whey every 2.5 hours and it made it very hard to have any sort of social life with the timing, strange foods, and strictness of it all.  In the end, I just ended up giving things up.

Was wondering what kind of diet (ratios/ grams/ etc) that you have found to be optimal for gaining muscle while staying lean as a natural?

IMO its either
protein/carbohydrate/hidden fat only  OR protein/fat/vegetable carbohydrate only

You know what I just read your inital post.

And im sorry, i just thought u were trying to bulk up some.

But if your trying to stay LEAN, while putting on some muscle.

Id do this. Do a lower carb approach throughout the day ( protein/fat/green veggies )

BUT! Have carbs post workout on the days that u workout. The amount of carbs that you have depends on how lean you are. Start off at .5 gram of carb/ lbs of bw. Then go up from there.

OR! you can split up this amount of carb ( .5 gram /lbs bw ) between your breakfast and pwo meal!

Thats what I would do :)
