How old?  Maybe you could donate them to a local school, church, or other charitable organization that could make use of them.

John,  but dont forget to remove or wipe your hard drive. You might have personal info on it.

they have porn in them. and i cant even wipe the drive cause one is incapacitated by spyware/viruses (when last i used it 2 years ago) and the other cant be turned on properly it just tells me to 'adjust frequency mghertz' or some shit.

Destroy them and send into the dumpster.

If you are in Cali, they will charge you to dispose of them, so hide them deep in the can.

There is an organization called freecycle with chapters across North America.

It works on the theory that one man's trash, is another man's treasure.

Through Freecycle, you can take your unwanted / unneeded materials and donate it to someone who has a need for it. People post what they have, and receive emails from those who might need it. It's a great way to help others, and help the environment as well, because we won't have so much perfectly good material filling up our nation's land fills.

You can find a local Free-cycle group in your area by visiting www.freecycle.org

Hope That Helps

Get an external harddrive case, connect via USB/Firewire and format the harddrives that way.

Old CRT monitors are worthless radiation emitters.

Certainly destroy the hard drives if you're going to dump them.

take them all to the gun range.

Nails into the hard drive wouldn't destroy every sector on the platters to stop them being read.

Either do a full format or run them over a powerful magnet if you want your animal porn stash to vanish.
