I think you are going to get a million responses all with different ideas.

I started bodybuilding with REALLY high protein 1.6 - 2 g per pound of bodyweight, and reached a point when I was taking in 500 g.

Then last year I switched to a lower methodology and upped my carbs, protein was about 1 - 1.2 g per pound of bodyweight.  But now I dunno if I liked that way and I'm probably gonna go back to what I did in the past.

Although, today I read a lot in the book Power Eating, and it preaches the whole .6 g of protein per pound of bodyweight with higher carbs.

You will hear so many different views,  someone like Layne Nortone preaches high carbs and lower protein, Some like Joey Rodriguez preaches HIGH protein.  Both of them look great.

You just gotta go with trial and error and see what works for you and what you feel comfortable doing.

I think ultimately both ways will work, just gotta choose the way you prefer!

See what you mean. I just started asking the guy about what he was saying because he was recommending 250g daily to a 60kg male. I thought this was excessive, then he changes his tune to 80-90kg male on a bulk. Basically, the guy doesn't know what he's talking about and is throwing out a one-size fits all rule. I'm not enquiring so I can use the advice given, moreso for my own interest. Thanks for the informative reply!

bingo, i couldn't agree more.  I'm on my third or fourth different approach to dieting at the moment and this one may finally be the one that works for me the best and is most realistic.

I don't think any of us know what we are doing!!!

Dude, I've competed six times and I still have no fucking clue what I'm doing.  I have yet to find a winning formula, what worked for one show didn't work for another.

This is part of the reason why I've decided to try and go back to my old way of doing things, HIGH protein baby!!!

To give you an idea, I just finished competing last week at a weight of 160.  Today I weigh 180 (yeah I binged so much this past week LOL),  I officially start my off-season diet and traning tomorrow, and the plan is as follows, I will start with 3000 calories split with a 40% protein, 40% carbs, 20% fat. (Basically 300 g protein, 300 g carbs, 65 g fat), I will do this with the hopes of adding 1-2 lbs a week, if I reach a stand still I will add another 15% to the calories with the samel 40-40-20 split.  So I imagine my protein can very well get up to 400 g in a couple of months.  This is MUCH higher than what I did last off-season (and I had a fairly good off-season last year).
If you tell this to Lanye Norton (which I have before) he will tell you that this is stupid and way too high!!!  If you tell this to Jrod (He will say this a good amount).

There is more than one way to skin a cat, there is more than one way to get big,  Arnold got big on a 40-40-20 split with high protein and he lowered his carbs as he went into a show.  Talk to other bodybuilders today they lower their protein going into a show and keep the carbs high.

I've been stressing about this so much the last few weeks, and finally just said fuck it, I'm gonna do what I think works for me!!! Maybe another way would work too, but I'm too scared to try it out, I'm happy like this, it keeps me sane, and I'm pretty sure it works!!!

P.S.  I've competed 17 lbs heavier than last week and this was during the time when I had my protein SUPER high.  So this tells me something, and thats why I am going back to my old ways!  Sure other factors could have played into this, but I'm fixing things one at a time!

i like to eat as much protein as i can

i think some of you mind fuck yourself by buying into the whole "there are pathways by which protein can contributer to adipose" deal way too much

i just asked layne the other day, about how fast meat proteins digest

he says no one knows for sure

but common wisdom is  that its somewhere betweeen 3 and 5 grams per hour

do you guys really think your going to get fat off of something that digest at 3-5 gams per hour?

lol

I weigh 240lbs and need 300 grams of protein a day just to maintain. I need between 350 and 400 grams a day to start adding size, which I'm finding increasingly difficult to do at this weight now.

And again...I'll ask the same question.  How are you guys getting 250g+ daily with a work, school and life schedule since most on here are pro bbers?  I cant get it done in one day let alone weeks.

List eating schedule with protein sources.  Thanks.
