Former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir is one of the classiest fighters in MMA but has choice words for fellow MMA fighter Kimbo Slice. In a recent interview, Mir uses “The Ultimate Fighter” reality series, which happens to premiere tonight after UFC Fight Night 15, as an example of how the sport should be portrayed by saying, “by having the cameras in the house it acts as sort of a window into the real lives of the people who take the sport seriously”.
“Every time Kimbo fights it sets the sport back. Guys like that just reinforce the idea in the public’s eye that we are all blood thirsty barbarians who just want to pummel each other and that there is no skill required.” Mir goes on to say in the FiveOuncesofPain interview.
Mir is obviously talking about Slice’s previous fights on YouTube and that it proves the point for those who still think that MMA is too violent.
It shouldn’t come as a surprise that a UFC employee is knocking Slice as this isn’t the first time. UFC President Dana White and former UFC light heavyweight champion Chuck Liddell have voiced their opinion in the past.
