HYPOTHETICAL
« on: September 28, 2008, 12:00:18 PM »
what kind of physique would we see if a guy like Ronnie Coleman, started gearing up in his twenties, and trained consistently for the next 10-15 years WITHOUT DIETING DOWN or doing any shows.  When he finally got ripped, Would the quality of physique be much higher?

Is this what we saw with Vic Richards?

actually, one would likely hit an insurmountable wall if they tried to continually bulk.  the changes in focus between bulking and cutting are necessary for overall long term growth.

This is interesting, I considered this possibility.  One other thing to consider though is that the way modern bodybuilders "bulk" (very rapid weight gain) now is largely a function of their need to make progress in the short window of time that they have between contests.  Maybe if they were more focused on the long-term, they would take a more gradual approach to bulking and would not hit this wall, or grow the guts that are probably a consequence of rapid bulking.  Also when it was time to cut, the diet could be stretched out over a year to minimize muscle loss.

We might see a very large physique, but maybe not substantially larger than today's Mass Monsters.  Maybe the difference would be in the quality of the mass and lack of intra-abdominal fat.
