If you using stuff that is from some underground lab you should use a whatman filter to filter out particles...no reason to take a chance...some people say heating the gear in an oven to remove bacteria but i dont think that is proven

You should always rotate, but buy a syringe filter and some benzyl alcohol.  Make sure your stuff is sterile.  You might not have an infection either it might just be irritated from the alcohol or oil.
