While the crowd in Chicago was disappointed by the end of the main event between Anderson Silva and Patrick Cote, they were treated to some undercard fights and fighters that earned $65,000 each for their efforts.
The "Fight of the Night" went to lightweights Sean Sherk and Tyson Griffin who battled to a three round decision that saw the former 155lb champion from Minnesota pull off a solid win to put him right back into title contention.
"Knockout of the Night" was pretty much a no-brainer as UFC newcomer, Junior Dos Santos, shocked the world and sent a message to the heavyweight division as he laid out top contender, Fabricio Werdum, with a devastating uppercut in the first round of their match-up.
Spencer Fisher had an impressive showing, finishing off Shannon Gugerty in the 3rd round of their bout by triangle choke and in doing so earned "Submission of the Night" honors from the UFC.
The $65,000 bonuses are in addition to the fighters contracted payouts including a "show" and "win" bonus for most of the competitors on the card.
The 15,359 fans in attendance also provided the UFC with a $2.85 million dollar gate for the live event.
