Anybody here "really understand" the facts about fats?
« on: November 08, 2008, 01:36:55 PM »
Some of you do, and some of you dont, but i think fats (for most gym rats) are highly neglected in the diet and the person doesnt reap the benefits you can gain through incorporating healthy fats in your diet.

Heres a good read:

There's a bad stigma surrounding fat. It's highly misunderstood. I still laugh at all the boneheads out there feverishly trying to avoid it, eating their low fat yogurt cups that have 30g of sugar in it. And they wonder why they don't lose weight!!! Hahaha

The worst part is when you try educating people about it. You try to encourage them to eat the right fats, even some of the "bad ones" (sans tran fat), but they still go with the low fat, hidden sugar foods... ah well... at least a lot of bodybuilders are catching on. My diet was actually too clean in the past. Not enough fat by a longshot. Added more healthy fats and even let myself eat some bad fats and I leaned out and finally broke through a plateau. There's just too much stigma for people to understand and appreciate fats a little more. Not my loss though.

good fat has a little bit of bad fats
and bad fats have a little bit of good fat in them

its not so much "not eating fats" its not eating bad fats.

even more so they are vital to "function" properly. I remember I was low carbing for about 5 weeks into a 10 week diet, and I "avoided" fats foolishly also, end result my memory and concentration was destroyed, bc i had no energy.

Fats are vital to a healthy body and mind.  People need to pull their heads out of their asses on the issue of dietary fats.

some fats like you find in protien bars dont have cholesterol these are the non animal fats

i beleive animal fats are best im not saying eat meat or eggs but milk and cheese are great choices they provide calcium and CHOLESTEROL wich is like a moarter than can get built up in you and get sloppy if you dont use it right
