Exactly what do I fucking need to get to have computer that doesn't goddamed lag after 1 year?  I'll tell you what this shit is, it's fucking a microsoft scam job...  On my laptop, aside from a few old programs I loaded on day one, I have not uploaded a single fucking thing since I bought the thing and done all the regular cleanup and maintenance and store all files via wireless to a backup.  The only software changes have come from Mircosoft updates... Virus and adware free, and it's getting slow as fuck right on scedule like every other fracking shit computer I've owned  uh huh...  So what exacty do I have to toss down to not give a rats ass about my computer being slow in a year?  Where do I buy a superfuckercomputer that I don't have to worry about for several years?  and don't tell me to get a mac.

Remember, a Mac can run Windows as well.  Though after using it for a while (with Mac OSX) you won't want to launch the Windows OS anymore.

It's not as easy to use at it looks, most games will not run on it, apart from that you need to find the distribution that you like best, there are a lot of Distibutions out there.

as soon as you put a computer on the internet, you are at its mercy..especially if you don't have a router/firewall in between your 24/7 high speed connection and the physical terminal itself. We call it "dirty internet surfing"


like my prof. always says...these days with the internet being 24/7 high speed now you might as well back up everything on your home systems (including the programs you installed) and just re-image your system every year and restore your backups. Runs like brand new all over again.

I have a terminal that I built 6 years ago that only touches the internet for updates..etc. Runs like a champ. Have one on the internet that I re image every year or so.

If you really have done everything right, sometimes it's just fragmentation of the harddisc.
If it's Windows Vista and a systray icon "Windows Defender" is running, try exiting this one and see if it helps.
I would generally not recommend Windows Vista.
As alread mentioned, always have an actual firewall (at least in your NAT router) and a personal firewall running.
