Affliction Entertainment has confirmed its HDNet-televised preliminary card and pay-per-view main card for the Jan. 24 "Day of Reckoning" event that takes place at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif.
The event is headlined by a heavyweight bout between former PRIDE champion Fedor Emelianenko and former UFC title-holder Andrei Arlovski.
Six of the night's 11 fights are on PPV.
"Day Of Reckoning includes 11 great matchups, a stacked card with an explosive main event between Fedor and Arlovski," Affliction Vice President Tom Atencio stated. "That will be such an incredible fight between two complete warriors."
The night's co-main event features a bout between heavyweight notable Josh Barnett and Gilbert Yvel.
Since a loss to Roman Zentsov at a May 2006 PRIDE event, Yvel has posted seven consecutive victories (all but one via knockout) while fighting throughout Europe and Asia. However, he's often been labeled a "dirty" fighter, and three of his previous fights have ended in disqualifications for biting, eye gouging and striking a referee.
However, during Wednesday's Affliction press conference in Los Angeles, Atencio confirmed with MMAjunkie.com (
www.mmajunkie.com) that the California State Athletic Commission has cleared Yvel for the fight.
