Monster Jam - the most American of all spectator events
« on: January 24, 2009, 06:44:15 AM »

I went to Monster Jam last night at Arco.  It was my first time seeing the monster trucks indoors.  Although space limitations made things a little tough, the guys - and lady - still put on an excellent show.  Everyone loves Grave Digger, but my new fave is Captain's Curse.  The artwork on that truck is phenomenal.

Before the singing of our national anthem, the emcee spoke of freedom in one of the most moving, most inspiring short pieces I've heard in a long, long time and then asked, "What do the colors...mean to you?"

God bless the U.S.A.

Nah, it was just like any other event.

If a guy falls off the escalator at Shea Stadium and dies, they still play a game the next night in a stadium filled with fans.

I never felt we were in any danger, but I did pay close attention all evening.

I always heard the exhaust from the trucks is terrible inside the arena.  Is that true?

Yeah, especially in a place like Arco, which isn't all that large.

I thought that was a greater danger to anyone than any sort of debris might be.
