Congress and the BCS
« on: May 01, 2009, 09:06:25 PM »
Congress wants to introduce legislation to make a playoff system in the CFB Bowl Series. Is this good or bad? Good to have a playoff system, bad that Congress feals the need to do it. Slippery slopes.................

people say Congress should have better things to spend their time on, however i dont think it would take much time at all to come to a decision.
the BCS is a joke, if you dont play by their rules you wont be invited.

I agree about slippery slopes.  Anytime somebody gets mad about something, no matter how trivial, the person either runs crying to a lawyer, or now, to Congress.  As I said a few months ago, this is more about grandstanding politicians than anything else.

I'm not saying the BCS isn't gayer than asking a woman's opinion on a major purchase; I'm saying that the government needs to stay out of the matter.  If enough people are bright enough to not watch the "National Championship" a couple times, the powers that be will suddenly be more open to change.

I agree.  Complete joke.  I'm more interested to see what the Utah AG (and others) can develop with the antitrust argument.

the powers that be dont earn their bread through good tv ratings

thats bad logic. " if people are smart enough not to watch, then the big wigs will create a playoff system"

thats just not the case

It's perfectly logical.  The problem is that most of the people who whine and bitch about the BCS like a chubby teen on her period still watch the games.

It's really not realistic to expect a boycott.  Will not happen.  People will watch.  That's doesn't make it right.
