BOBBY LASHLEY MAKES HIS TNA WRESTLING DEBUT AT LOCKDOWN

Former World Champion Bobby Lashley made his surprise TNA Wrestling debut at Lockdown! After the Lethal Lockdown match, the lights in the arena went out and a video played introducing Lashley to TNA! Lashley came out and Kurt Angle was shown laughing in the ring! Is there some kind of connection between Lashley and Angle? How will he fit into the power struggle between The Main Event Mafia and TNA Frontline?

What are people's thoughts on this?

Do you think he'll be able to maintain a career in MMA at the same time?

If he wanted to return to wrestling, why not go back to WWE?

Eh, never thought he was all that great in WWE so I don't really care about him in TNA.

Sure he can maintain a career in MMA, TNA works with their guys for stuff like that....however, the UFC does not, so we won't see him there anytime soon.

As far as going back to WWE, they don't allow their guys to do other ventures like MMA, and they are on the road 300+ days a year, where TNA is like 1/3 of that time.

That's the beauty with TNA. Wrestlers are allowed to wrestle under contract with TNA but also have the option to work independants and in Japan or MMA to make more cash. In the WWE, you are slated to work for them and them only.

That’s always been a double standard.
Vince considers and pays his guys as INDEPENDENT CONTRACTORS, but, contractually, they can only work for him with no medical benefits, etc.

I don’t know about now, but as recent as a few years ago, there were some heavy hitters from the Fed that could accept third party bookings. But they had that stipulation in their contracts – many of them before making it big – and some were smart enough to work a similar clause into their renewed contracts.
Many wrestlers used to own their names and likeness as well.

Today we see less and less of that as Vince controls more and more.

These guys are supposed to be independent contractors, but...
You are told what to wear, whether you win or lose, how you win or lose, what story lines you’re involved in, you don’t own your image/likeness and cannot use your character name without permission, you can’t work for any other company, etc…

What’s so "independent" about that?

He must be short on money then if he's come back to wrestling.  MMA doesn't pay too well unless your successful.

Would he have been taken back by the WWE?  They seem to like the slightly smaller guys now, not the huge physical presences like Lashley.

If Lashley is smart, he'll stick to wrestling. More money.

More money but more wear and tear on your body though.  Even just doing TNA shows, he's still gonna be wrestling several times a month, compared to 3-4 fights a year in MMA?  If he was successful and made it to the UFC, he could make a lot more money than he would in wrestling.

you take more of a beating in MMA as it is full contact and the wear & tear on the body is much worse. In wrestling you take a beating but I think its worse in full contact MMA.

The difference is in MMA you only take the beating once every 90 days or so, wrestling you take the beating 300+ days a year.

MMA must be easier on the body if someone like Kurt Angle can consider doing it.  He's risking serious injury from the slightest bump these days, so there's no way he'd go into MMA if it would be harder on his body.

Kurt Angle is a rational player.
