*Bump*

Just finished some Tabata Burpees. Brutal. Still out of breath.

Tabata is very simple. Pick an exercise (let's just use burpees), 20 secs as many as you can do, 10 secs rest, repeat this for 8 cycles. You will be finished in 4 mins. Simple, yet an absolute killer.
No doubt about it...

Some personal anecdotes:

  • It very quick & very effective
  • I feel energised & my metabolism is boosted for 12-14 hours after.
  • I alternate bouts of burpees with kettlebell cinder block swings
  • There's definitely some hormonal release. 60-90 mins later it's time for an INSOMNIA retrospective & some 'manual intervention' .

Actually I just googled Chirpee and found a vid on it.

Lets see some of the other drills you incorporate into the tabata.

I'm looking at this the wrong way.  I want premium results with as little time invested as possible.

My ass should be in the gym (or at least doing something physical...and golf doesn't count!) two hours a day, every day, period.

Even if I'm not training, that would be two hours when I'm not stuffing my face with food. lol

Yes, have used  lifting movements with the Tabata interval method (excellent film clips). SLDL's, DL's, cleans/hi-pulls work well. The c&j also. You want compound exercises only, stuff that requires most of the body. Tough stuff, so might want to only do 2 cycles at first and than build up from there. Outstanding stamina (strength plus endurance) and fat loss. Will be breathing like a steam engine, but that's the point. And be done with it all after 4 to 8 minute workouts. 2 to 4 Tabata workouts a week. Good Luck.

i have used them with squats - just an empty bar, altough i didn't do any 5 min warm up or cool down. i just started them after my normal workout.

the burn and pain is incredible - worse than any i have ever known.
the pump is incredible - better than any i have ever known.
i could not walk afterwards, i could not breathe, my heart was ripping out of my chest, but after 30 mins or so of rest i felt amazing.

i can do 20-10 when i do full squats i.e. stand up completely and lock the knees with each rep. When i do not lock out at the top i can only get 3 mins - the burn and pain are too much.

CF/Tabata stuff nukes body fat. end of story. six days a week of that mixed with lifting and i'm, well, a little twig. but the point is it works.
