Totally, I just have a feeling gracie bjj is going to become one of those soccer moms that 's trying to live vicariously through his kikd, which is pretty sad..it's cool if the kid is into it, but if he hates it, whjy push him into it !?

lol, i was raised playing and doing well in all sports, unfortunatly there was no bjj schools around when i was little or i would have been involved in that also. my dad put me in all the sports and im glad he did cause it teaches kids discipline and responsability, every dad wants thier son to be better then he was, i know i want my son to go way farther then me in sports and more importantly, in life. my sons education and christian education is our #1 priorty. keep the negative comments to yourself bro, i dont recall saying anything negative towards your post. keep it mma related cause theres no need to take cheap shots at me with (soccer mom) and (vicariously through his kid) comments

Kids will do what they see.  My son asked to compete.  He sees Dad doing all this supplemental training outside of class time, and he wants to do the same.  Not to mention all his real good friends are at BJJ, so what else do you think he/she will want to do?

my son is 3 years old and im teaching him bjj already, then when he starts school he will wrestle and do bjj at nights. ill start his bag work in acouple years also, nothing against tkd but i wont have my son learn it. he will learn muay thia though cause i feel its overall a better self defense art

bjj
wrestling
muay thia
boxing

you dont have to wait I started my son on boxing at 3. Now he's 16 and I'd rather fight almost any adult then him. I just hope to get him on the ground quick enough cause I'm better at Bjj, and those knees and shinkicks to the legs friggin hurt when the bones are conditioned like his lol. I took a lot of critisism from ppl for trainning him at such a young age, but now he dosent like drinking/drugs is very mature and NEVER got bullied by anyone not even adults. Good for you! It's the way to go for shure. I'm always amazed by parents who have approched me and complain about the school not protecting thier kids. I don't understand why they don't just make shure thier kid/kids learn self deffence skills? 2 months of Judo even, and a kid could probly beat every bully in thier school.

My son was doing MT at age four, his schools principle called me, he was in trouble for making a classmates nose bleed, I took him out.  I asked him what he did, he said "Just like coach said, I fired my cross, left hook and followed up with a knee."  I don't think little kids have enough discretion to know.

to be honest, i dont think any dad wants thier kid to be a soft ass, especially guys like us who enjoy the mma game. dont get me wrong, i wont tolerate my son being a bully cause i hate bullies, but i want my son to be able to protect himself and if possible, stand up for other kids that are getting bullied. no parent wants to see thier kid coming home with a shiner and find out your kid didnt even try to defend themselves from the kid who punched him/her. im bringing my son up to be a good christian kid, but a christian kid that is gonna be able to defend himself if need be. i dont think theres anything wrong with a parent getting his kid trained in the mma,s, i agree with you guys 100%

Try explaining that to my wife....

I prefer he single/doubld kids and hold them down.  As he gets older, MT will be added back into the mix.
