Getting a Doc to give Test?
« on: May 25, 2009, 10:57:53 AM »
If one has blood work from years ago showing that FSH and LH levels were zero (but it has no Test level measurement) and another showing minimum normal Test levels, with lowish FSH/LH, can one go to a doc say hey I had low T levels and they put me on HRT, I just moved and my refills are just about out, here is my old blood work showing low T levels. Would that work? Which blood results would one use, the first or the second? Would one go to a Endo dr., or would it be advised to go somewhere else. Ok I know this sounds silly but ...

No.  A doctor would want to draw up some new labs for sure.  HRT is not always permanent for many men so a doc would want to make sure you are still in fact low.

My best buddy used to have real low test (FSH, LH) after a cycle, so he went to the doc.

The doc gave him "TAMOXIFEN" and after a month on it, his test came back to normal. So tamoxifen isn't only an anti-oestrogene but it can also help to make your natural test back.

Wow that's interesting.  I'm surprised a doc prescribed tamoxifen for low test.

Yes I tought he will give him soe HRT because he was with no test at all. NO LH and NO FSH really really low. He did blood work. He took tamoxifen 20mg a day I think (not sure I ll ask) after a month, he did some blood work and his natural test and LH FSH were back to normal.

Yes, his libido came back really quickly and everything was ok. I think if you take tamoxifen you can kick up your natural test. At the end of my cycle, I ll do blood work and I ll take tamoxifen for 1-2 months. after a month I ll do blood work and see what happend.

I ll keep u update if you want.

"tamoxifen" is actually nolvadex.

hmm....  cause and effect doesnt always follow what appears on the surface to be logical.

its possible your friends levels normalized themselves in that month, the tamoxifen may have been of no help. lets say the doc told him to take aspirin for a month, or tylenol, or gave him a script for blood pressure medication. thats doesnt mean those drugs are what normalized him!!!!

the doc may have had minimal knowledge of the endrocrine system (highly likely), gave him tamoxifen innappropriately, and when his levels returned to normal he figured it was from the tamoxifen.

just a hypothetical scenario
