gear and cardio
« on: June 02, 2009, 05:28:31 AM »
I have a question .... are there benefits to doing heavy cardio and heavy lifting while on dbol or anadrol? Or does one limit the cardio and get lift heavy

I kinda wondered about this as well. I'm about the size I want to be (6' tall 258lbs @ 19% bf) and I am only 1/3 through my first cycle. I would like to now do cardio and lose fat but keep what I've gained.

CL - don't mean to hijack your thread bro, it's just a good question I couldn't find an answer using the search function.

At a 19% bf level you can do both (cardio and weight training) and easily gain muscle and lose fat at the same time.  As your bf gets lower it becomes much more difficult to do both simultaneously.

depends on how much gear you want to use if your wanting to actualy gain muscle and loose weight... much easier just to do one thing or the other, try and keep what youve got and loose the blubber...

the thing is, you fellas at above 15% will be shocked when you diet down, when you find you dont have half the muscle u actualy think you have..and its a sad realisation, which will have you screaming youve lost muscle.

So true about the amount of muscle under the blubber.  But, if you eat right, take gear, train hard and do a lot of cardio you WILL gain muscle and lose fat at the same time at your bf. Then, as your bf gets down to a reasonable level you will need to choose to bulk or cut, but not both.  I've been there and done it and used to have an interesting article that explains biologically why it's possible to do both at high bf levels.

as i said, it depends on how much gear your willing to take... a handfull of dbol wont cut it...youd need a pre contest ish cycle to back it up, rich in anabolics......

I agree about the bodyfat deal I've been there before. I know I can get to about 225 or so @ 8% bf towards the end of season (rugby) so I don't have the unrealistic expectation of comming off the cycle dieting down to be a solid 245lbs guy.

In all honesty, it's not worth it for me to get "6 pack" lean by doing 2hrs of cardio (and lift) a day while eating boiled chicken for 2 months...I have a life. I have found that I tackle harder and seem to be less injury prone when I have some fat on me..say 15%  - 18% or so. I concentrate on being able to play effectively the whole game. So if my cardio is spot on and I'm able to test the  Ph of the soil with the face of a 300# samoan, I'm good. I don't really care about the "fat"..or looking "shredded"...I'm out for blood and / or vomit.

To each his own though. I do agree that when you get to a certain level you have to choose to cut further or bulk. Off season I don't do a lot of cardio and lift then preseason cardio it up with diet then keep diet consistant through season since cardio is a give with practice 2x a week and game on Saturday.
