Usually is the operative word. Someone capable of "logically work out their addictive personalities and stop such behaviour...cause..well. .they r smart.." would never be doing (insert stupid thing) if they were thinking properly from the start or had the sheer will to impose logic upon themselves.
i also skydive Doc...i still love alcohol...i happen to love my brain better..its fun for me to solve problems upon seeing em...i can "see/taste" the answer , and watching others struggle for hours
It's probably easier (in some ways) for a nitwit to break an addiction. They lack the ability to rationalize bad behaviors. 
could be...but then again...
besides...stupid people (usually) are poor...and they cant really afford the expensive stuff...
