good thread that Im in the middle of reading.
Here's what ordinary people care about:
Sex, pets, celebrities, crime and kids.
In that order pretty much.
Any combination would make it even bigger.
So if you can have a Petfucking celebrity, that would be ideal.
Now with Jackson dead, you have a Celebrity (check), who lived with a Pet (check) and was accused of criminal activites (check) with kids (check).
And even as the details are coming out surrounding his death, the Jackson family are suggesting that those around him "enabled" Jacksons use of prescription drugs. So Jackson's death in itself is perhaps a criminal affair (check).
This one is gonna be pretty fcuking huge in some ways.
But at the same time - I got a feeling many in the media will overplay how big is. Jackson was an icon in the 80's. And sort of faded away - and fewer and fewer could relate to Jackson in any way.
That's what makes pets for great stories eg.
They are easy to relate to, ie they're "cute".
The whole "alien" aspect of Michael Jackson should factor in and make his case a much less interesting one that it would've been otherwise IMO.
Just my prediction though.
I saw Anderson Cooper saying that this would blow the Anna Nicole Smith drama away.
I'm not so sure.
She was a simple girl who've made it. And through her success, still battled problems with weight, drugs, et al. Something everyone could relate to. She laid it all out and was loved - probably a lot for not being perfect.
We'll see.
