Dressing on Olive Garden's Salad?
« on: July 05, 2009, 02:16:53 PM »
Last night my wife and I went to Olive Garden and got their bottom less soup and salad.   The salad was great, and they used some sort of vinegrette dressing.  It was great way to get some greens, and still taste good.  Are Vinegrette's ( unsure about spelling ) good or bad for you?

many vinaigrette's are pretty high in calories.  Many of the calories come from hidden sugar and fats from the oil(s) used.  Most vinaigrette's are based on a 3 to 1 ratio of oil to vinager.

According to their web site ~ Garden-Fresh, with Dressing has 350 calories, 27.0g of fat and 22.0g of carbs
That's only 1 serving ~ and I think they use mostly, if not all, iceberg lettuce  :-X which has absolutely no nutritional value.  Next time, at least ask for the dressing on the side.

very true.  Also take into consideration that there is someone back there prepping your salad and often times doesn't always follow the companies guideline for adding the dressing to the salad, many times cooks add more that what is needed.  I have seen this first hand from my hospitality experience.
