Starting MMA
« on: July 20, 2009, 02:18:44 PM »
I'm starting MMA after a long time off from kickboxing. The gym appears reputable and has all the normal equipment etc. What should dues and equipment costs look like. We have 10 guys who are looking at starting with this gym as we're all in a temporary Army course togther for 4 months. Many of u guys have been at this awhile and I'd like to here what seems normal or fair to u. They're giving us a free week and once u pay...month to month...u can hit any class u want all week long. I just want to train so cost isn't an issue but some of these guys are balking at the price. We're starting tonight so I'll post what kind of deal we get later on.

I pay 120 a month for unlimited classes.  Unfortunately, I don't get to train more than four times a week, but I could.  Find a place where you can train in all ranges, but master one.  If you want to fight professionally, you will need a "default" range where you can go to when you get clipped.

I don't want to fight pro and at 35 thats not an option....They're giving us a pretty good military discount as we brought in 4 guys. We can unlimited like urs but i think we're looking at 4 times per week. Right now thats 2 KB and 2 Jits. The ground class we're taking is no Gi and geared to MMA anyway. In any event we're in so thanks for the response.

in north jersey prices range anywhere from 80$ unlimited training 7 days a week, sundays open mat. ive also paid 80$ for twice a week at 1 hour sessions, but i had renzo gracie watching over me and correcting my form and technique 8). that was in manhatten though and the train cost me another 80 a month, i was paying 160$ a month but to be honest it was worth it to me, my game skyrocketed in a 5 month period, it was unreal how sharp ive gotten training with those talented and skilled animals
