T.J. Hooker rebooted for the big screen

Remaking '80s TV series into movies is so hot right now.

Variety reports that classic US cop show T.J. Hooker is headed for the big screen as an action comedy.

Running for five seasons from 1982 to 1985, T.J. Hooker starred William Shatner as no-nonsense police sergeant Thomas "T.J." Hooker, who solved street crimes with his rookie partner Vince Romano (Adrian Zmed). The series helped launch the acting career of Heather Locklear, who played Officer Stacy Sheridan from season two onwards.

Actors are yet to be cast in the movie, and it's not yet known if any of the original cast will provide cameos. The plot will reportedly revolve around T.J.'s relationship with his father.

Ricky Husky, who co-created the series with Aaron Spelling, will co-produce the movie.

"The series was the poster child for cop TV shows in the 1980s with great stunts, so we think there's a fun movie to be made from it," said co-producer Ryan Heppe.

Fellow '80s series The A Team is also being remade into a movie.

Or Transformers 3... I think Gigli was better than Transformers 2.
