The most amazing thing about Sanford wasnt the affair, the dereliction of duties, or the lies. What was amazing is when he said "Im going to try to fall in love with my wife again".Can you imagine the fucking arrogance of that?I question her saninity to sit there and let this idiot, not only cheat on her but to say things like his skank is "my soul mate".
The guy is a real scum bag.If you cheat on your wife dont make it worse,or rub salt in the wound and say something like "Im going to try to fall in love with my wife again".Are you kidding me?If I was her Id say "Dont bother,Im fucking the postman".
I wouldn't call that arrogance. The rigors of life can drain any marriage. So, a man falling out of love, as it were, with his wife (or vice versa) is hardly a strange concept.
What I believe he meant was that he's trying to rediscover the things about her that made him want to make her Mrs. Sanford, in the first place.
As for calling the other woman his "soul mate", that's easy, too. The saying goes, "The grasser always looks greener on the other side". He doesn't go through the day-to-day things with her that he does with his wife.
There are marriages that survive adultery (ask the Clintons). Back in the day, people simply worked it out and stayed together, partially for the sake of the family.
