I have many actually...but one complaint that directly impacts primary care doctors and patient health is progressive increases in patient's co-pays.
Many patients don't follow up in the office, don't see us for preventative care and don't come in until their illnesses are advanced because of this barrier to care. Now, in the grand scheme of things, the $15-25 co-pay isn't a ton of money in overall cost of healthcare, but it has a direct effect on the care of the patient. I would like to see a mandate on controlling the amount of out of pocket expenses shifted to patients by insurance companies. I think co-pays should be limited to a small amount...ie $10, like it was 8-10 yrs ago. The real savings in healthcare is to limit excessive procedures, testing, end of life care, increasing competition and addressing malpractice/defensive medicine/legal costs.
