any mustang owners/fans here?
« on: September 10, 2009, 05:33:18 PM »
what do you think of the stying changes on the 2010?  I don't like them, back and front lost what was cool about the car.  Yes, I realize most here probably hate mustangs all together.

i tend to disagree. i think they've improved what used to be an ugly back, front was ok and is now better. the car looks better no doubt... the new shelby is awesome too!

that shelby does look good but I like the front/back of the 09 better than the 10.  maybe I just need to get use to it.  I guess the big change is coming in 2012

I had two 66 Mustangs in high school.  I was the expert on them.  Around 1984 or so I think when the first Saleen came out I had put a down payment on one that I had to order.  It was all white.  EVERYTHING was white including the rims and interior (leather).  I can't remember exactly how much it was but I put $10,000 down and never picked it up.  I ended up buying BMW.  I also had a 1986 GT which was the last year the had carbs.  It was black on black and I took off all the labels and it was an awesome car and very fast.  Especially when passing people on the freeway.  It was a 4 speed and it flew.

A friend of mine here has a custom stang with a Rousch motor.  It has somethign like 560 hp I think
No Worries 4 me

2010 needs the aluminum 5.0 quad cammer to be competitive with the Camaro and SRT8 Challenger.  Also, it would benefit from a Tremec T6060 trans.  Six speeds is the norm, today.

I actually like the 10 models more, the ass end of the current model just doesnt mesh all that well imho

its like they made the front capable of being real aggressive looking with only slight modifications but the ass end needs a total make over to make it look good.

I loved 05 to 09 front to back.  I went all out with my gt, got all the options, red interior, even got the mycolor dash before they got rid of it which is a pretty cool feature imo.  Love it.  This car will be a classic in the future, in my mind anyway :D

I'm also loving the new challenger and camaro.  With the camaro I think the front end could have been tweeked a little more to get that retro look right but it shocked me seeing it in person and I was pretty impressed with the look.  The challenger nailed it.  Would love to own all three.

Lighter than either the Camaro SS or Challenger, but that three link rear is weak sauce, and the 315 hp three valve is underpowered.  Already made mention of the five speed versus the six that the Mopar and Bow tie offer.  The FRPP 5.0 Aluminum 4 valver with the Tremec T6060 and you'd have the ultimate pony car.

no matter what you do, you will still be stuck with it's shitty aerodynamics and it's heavy weight. i'd stick with exterior work if i was a mustang owner.

I had a 89 with a 4 cylinder, just as an about town grocery getter. That car kinda just sucked.
I've had a 67 Fastback since high school, that was my aunts prior to her passing. Just had a 289 in it, but I pulled the motor out and took the front end apart in order to restore it. That was 4yrs ago, haven't touched it since. Either had no money or no time. I need to pay off my other car first.
I have a friend who could be considered a Mustang freak. He's owned 2-3 before the current time, all of them pumped up. He currently owns two Saleens, one with a fairly built up 302, but that is his daily driver of the two. The other, is an 89 that will have a 408 stroker in it, and he's looking to get 750hp out of the rear wheels. That ones going to be the all-out street legal racing machine.

Actually, it is more than competitive. The new Camaro and SRT8 Challenger are PIGS. The Mustang with the fast (?) pac, out handles them, plus it is lighter.

We rented a convertible mustang on vacation a couple times.   They seemed like decent, solid vehicles...unlike a convertible jag (garbage) we rented once and a convertible PT Cruiser we nicknamed Squeaky.

i have always had fast cars and bikes........i gave up on cars a few years ago.....they simply cannot compete in the speed department.

personally, top speed/most power isn't the only or main appeal in these cars for me.
I just want a car with enough power and is a sweet ride and doesn't cost an arm and a leg.  the camaro, stang and challenger are all good cantidates for that.
