This looks like a book by Sapphire named 'Push'. Same character name and general storyline. Depressing book...movie looks equally depressing. Especially if it ends like the book.

teacher was looking good.  Mariah looked rough.  Movie looks like a typical out of the hood, find inspiration bs movie
