Because there isn't enough original ideas out there (*cough* bullshit! *cough*) Twentieth Century Foxhave taken on "Commando" producer Joel Silver's recent suggestion that the 1985 actioner needs to be remade (surprisingly enough, Silver's not involved), says Deadline.
David Hayter ("Street Kings") will write and direct the reboot of the Arnold Schwarzenegger (and Rae Dawn Chong) ''classic''. John Davis and Erwin Stoff will produce.
And before Abking writes in suggesting "Schwarzenegger will probably get the call", let me reemphasize what "remake" means - it means, essentially anyone connected with the original film will be cut loose. You'll be looking at another 'John Matrix' I'm afraid, Ab.
If Hayter were to go with one of the actors he's worked with in previous years for the role (be it on one of the "X-Men" movies he's written, or "The Scorpion King", or his directorial debut "Street Kings"), then it's quite possible that these guys (however laughable some of them might be in the part) might be in with a shot :

they didn't say they will remake it... if you watch their interview they clearly state that you can't OUT DO ARNOLD, so they will do something differend, but since everyone wants some predator action aswell, they thought a new predator movie with new theme and not mimicking arnold would be a good idea.

So true. Big studios and their studio heads, which are real genius, are day by day turning down scripts like "Pulp Fiction" because "they has no potential to make money". And like history has prove, they has been wrong so many times, that there should be dead penalty for these bozos, just to get some new faces in the ring. And what they do? They are recycling old classics, foreign movies, all sort of weird shit, but what was a last "larger than life" movie experience what you have? Cannot remember? There has been a while...Let's face it: Hollywood is full of crap, there isn't even any real movie stars, just old lazy geezers trying look young with any cost.

So, why don't do completely new movie? Because these shit for brains are too lazy to find a script, so they take the easy way for few million bucks, and do remake. It is safe way to make some money, there will be a bunch of people who want to see if it is any better than old one. And this should be an art form? Will there be an Oscar for best remake of the old classic? And as we speak, there is unstoppable river of new scripts flowing through the Hollywood, and 99,9998% of it goes straight in to waste.

And what comes to Predator, why give it to Rodrigues, who hasn't been able to do anything decent after El Mariachi? Give it to Tarantino or Tim Burton who really will get something new out of it. With Rodrigues that will be just a another pointless bloodbath, because that is all he can direct. Tons of blood and shit flying around for two hours, and that is it? Well that is clever way to do it...and what I find very funny, is that they have tons of money, billions of dollars to put computer based effects, and all they will use it, is make blood and body parts look more realistic when they fly around.

I have a hard time putting this into words, its like sacrate ground, not only for meatheads, it was a special Ara, and part of the fun of watching these movies is that you get kinda warped back.
With all the 3D shit, goodlooking vampire stories, emo special forces movies, its so friggen good to watch a movie like Commando or Predator.

Again I have a hard time explaining myself but I really think they shouldn't remake these movies, I mean whats next, Alien 1 and 2 remake?

It would be absolute sacrilege if they messed too much with the original. Schwarzenneger should at minimum have a cameo role.

However, it would be interesting if Tarantino could be involved in the remake (if it happens) - that would be genuinely interesting to see. Christopher Nolan too would be good.

Not Tim Burton - all he would do is cast Johnny Depp and Helena Bohnham Carter like he does in all his films.
