Annual Medicare Fraud: $60 Billion; Annual Profits of Top Ten Insurance Companies: $8 billion
http://canadafreepress.com/index.php/article/16445
________________________ ________________________ __________

As 60 Minutes reported last week, Medicare fraud is rampant and has now replaced the cocaine (ahem) business as the major criminal activity in South Florida. Both 60 Minutes and the Washington Post report that Medicare fraud now costs American taxpayers roughly $60 billion a year. That may sound like a lot of money, but surely it pales next to the extraordinary profits of private insurance companies, right?

Well, let's see.... Last year, the profits of the ten largest insurance companies in America were just over $8 billion -- combined. No single insurance company made even five percent of what Medicare reportedly loses in fraud.

While we're making comparisons, in its real first ten years (2014-23), the Senate Finance Committee bill would cost $1.7 trillion. At the rate of last year's profits, the combined ten-year profits of America's ten largest insurance companies would be $83 billion -- five percent of the costs of the Senate Finance Committee bill. Eighty-three billion dollars may not buy you much in comparison with BaucusCare, but -- on the bright side -- that ten-year tally is somewhat more than what Medicare loses each year in fraud.

So, the next time someone alleges that government-run health care is cheaper because of "lower administrative costs" -- a truly preposterous claim on its surface -- these numbers would be good ones to have at the ready: $60 billion in annual Medicare fraud, $8 billion in combined annual profits for America's ten largest insurance companies.

Why would anyone in their right mind trust the govt with more power over health care?

There's even more fraud in the private sector.

Did 60 minutes happen to mention that?

Guess what Straw?  I am not taxed to pay for private companies right now.  Under PelosiCare, everyone will be forced via mandate to purchase insurance from the evil insurance companies you loathe.

Damn...that's what I was going to say.  While we need healthcare reform...more government isn't the answer.  Saying every other  country has it isn't an answer either.  Seems some people need to grow up.

I'm more of a Hatebreed and 5FDP kind of guy.  I will have to listen to some more slayer.

If "I Will Be Heard" and "Destroy Everything" doesn't get you going under the squat rack nothing will.   ;D

I saw Hatebreed/Slayer on the Jagmeister tour a few years ago.  Damn i dont know how I made it home.

Perseverance is my favorite album but it gets a little to bland for me.

Slayer has that war/serial killer/evil/satan/death vibe going that makes me just want to throw things out the window thing going on.  I am listening to their new album right now and the walls in the office are shaking.

Its a song called played "Playing with Dolls"

Ayara is screaming:  "You wish you wre in hell" about a murder/torture victim.

Whats not to love about that?

Guess what 333 - you will not be taxed to pay for someone elses insurance.  Do you even know how insurance works?
Why are you so constantly misinformed?

You are truly smoking too much dope.

Me:  There is 60 Billion of fraud in medicare

You: There is more fraud in the private sector (Which you have not provided proof for)

Me:  However, we are not taxed to pay for private sector fraud.

You:  You are misinformed.

What was your point?  And by the way, like always, you are not informed on the details of the bill.  We will be taxed to pay for someone eleses' insurance since there are subsidies for low income people.  So yes Straw, we will pay for others insurance.
