MICHIGAN - RR needs to get out now - Never understood MICHIGAN
« on: November 21, 2009, 09:39:04 PM »
Let me start off by just saying, I am glad this dreadful season is finally over!  We were teased with a 4-0 start, only to lose all but 1 remaining game and that was against Delaware State and that is definitely nothing to brag about.  With the offseason here and yet another year without a bowl, several concerns need to be addressed.

1)  Schedule - This was our year to have a rebound season with big games all at home (Notre Dame, Penn State, Ohio State).  Any hopes of a "rebound" season next year are going to be extremely difficult with a scary opening game against U. Conn and away games at Notre Dame, Penn State and Ohio State.

2) Transfers - Will we see a mass exit from some key players?  We are already losing Brandon Graham and he will be difficult to replace and now there are rumors buzzing that Tate may transfer and if he doesn't, Robinson can't be too happy knowing that he is going to be playing second fiddle and only brought in on difficult (almost can't win) scenarios.

3) Recruiting - Again, Michigan did not look impressive this year and appears to be going backwards while other programs are making tremendous strides forward and pretty soon, coming to Michigan will not look that enticing to alot of key players.  Michigan's tradition and recognition is just not that enough to bring in some players and we are losing the battle of bringing in players that can fill the gaps.

4) Attitude - I am really concerned about the team's attitude and morale.  Certainly after two disappointing and record disaster seasons, it must be taking a toll.  A perfect example was Tate's playing today.  He just appeared to be fighting an uphill battle, making poor decisions and becoming increasingly frustrated while in the season's first few games, he showed flashes of brilliance, leadership and intelligent play.

5) Defense - No if's, and's or but's about it.....this year's defense with the exception of a few players, was absolutely pathetic and embarrassing.   Michigan did not simply lose games, we were completely dominated and outmatched by offenses that were not even considered "good" by most experts.  This is not what Michigan fans are used to seeing.  The defense MUST improve and begin to dominate the pace of the game.

In closing, I still bleed Maize 'N Blue and always will and I am getting tired of saying this and hearing this, but.........."Wait til next year, we will be back!"  GO BLUE!

X2 Right now, i think that if we fire him, Norte Dame kinda thing.

A University of Michigan football player was arrested this morning after a female student reported he sexually assaulted her. The man has been questioned and is scheduled to be released shortly as detectives continue to investigate the 2 a.m incident in the 600 block of South State Street, Ann Arbor police Det. Dave Monroe said. Police would not release the name of the player today.

RR ran a pretty loose ship at WV....and the way he handled things on the way out at WVU was very indicative of the kinda guy he really is.  Michigan has too many resources to settle for what has been put on the field for the last few years.

My friend who lives in Pittsburgh sent me this.....

Here is what is helping me.  It's kind of my 12 step program.

1.  Both QB's are freshmen.

2.  Our leading rusher yesterday (and I think next year's starter) is a freshman.

3.  Our leading receiver against OSU and for the season (despite playing in what, 7 games) is a freshman.

4.  Our leading tackler yesterday is a sophomore.

5.  William Campbell is a freshman.

6.  JT Floyd and Craig Roh are freshmen.

7.  Kevin Leach, Ryan Van Bergen, Mike Martin, and JB Fitzgerald are sophomores.

8.  David Molk, Mark Huyge, Tay Odoms, Daryl Stonum, and Brandon Herron are sophomores.

9.  Next year's secondary will be joined by last year's 4 star recruits and redshirted JT Turner and Vlad Emilien.

10.  Our DC will be in his second season, the first time we've been able to say that in what, 3 years?!

11.  Devin Gardner seems to be a nice combination of Tate's arm and Denard's speed.

12.  I live in Pittsburgh, and just watched it take Dave Wannstedt 5 years to turn it around at Pitt.  And that was with less talent and less dramatic a change.  I called in to the pregame show to make that point after it was said that turnarounds take a short amount of time.  Hopefully it was said on the air.  Given the talent UM has, I'm optimistic about the next two seasons.

Cite all the stats from the last two years, the losing streaks, records, streaks broken or set...I don't care.  What's Al McGuire's saying about the best thing about freshmen?

This gives me hope.  I went "All in" for Michigan this season, and got beat.  But I'm loving the cards dealt for next year.  Go Blue!
