Terrance Watanabe Will Top Any Gambling Story You’ve Ever Heard: He Lost $127 Million in Las Vegas
GamblingTheBigLeadDecemb er 7th. 2009, 9:03pm
“During a year-long gambling binge at the Caesars Palace and Rio casinos in 2007, Terrance Watanabe managed to lose nearly $127 million. The run is believed to be one of the biggest losing streaks by an individual in Las Vegas history. It devoured much of Mr. Watanabe’s personal fortune, he says, which he built up over more than two decades running his family’s party-favor import business in Omaha, Neb.”

Because this is America, he’s suing. Wantanabe paid the casinos back $112 million, but refuses to pay the rest because he said the other $14 million and change was “extended to him as credit.” He alleges the casinos “routinely plied him with liquor and pain medication as part of a systematic plan to keep him gambling.” In the annals of gambling stories, this one has no peer.

In 2007, Mr. Watanabe’s prodigality became almost as legendary as his gambling. According to court documents, Mr. Watanabe says he regularly handed out to Caesars employees bundles of $100 bills that could total as much as $20,000.

Al Deleon and Kristian Kunder, two of Mr. Watanabe’s personal handlers at Caesars, say he had thousands of Tiffany gift boxes filled with $50 gift cards or $100 gift coins that he would hand out to bartenders, nightclub operators, security guards and others. They say he once told a security guard to go to a supermarket and buy every cut of steak, and then proceeded to hand them out to employees.

And you thought Michael Jordan incurred heavy gambling losses. Without question, Vegas is back, baby. This whale flushes $127 million at the tables and Tiger Woods turned it into his personal playground to cheat on his wife and tarnish his polished public image. Can’t wait to get out there sometime in the near future.

No professional athlete comes close to losing that much in LV but if you want to see some of the top ball-players lose and win lots of dough, stop by The Palms on late Friday and Saturday nights. Some of them play well at Blackjack and Poker but they are damn bad at the game of Craps chiefly because they stay at the table too damn long and some don't even know how to take the free odds bet.

tiger is gonna lose that much in 2010 thanks to his risk-taking.

still, on his death-bed, he isn't gonna be thinking about how tough it was getting by with only $900 mil instead of $1.1 bil.  No, he'll have the memories of the many hookups to keep him warm.

Looks like a BetBigger to me!

There have been a few cases in which the big Las Vegas losers sue various casinos for their loss of millions of dollars claiming that they were plied with booz and ladies of the evening and Rolex watches, etc.

Shit! All I ever get plied with is a free beer for a one-buck tip which costs a dollar at the bar or a martini in a plastic cup.

Can I sue for discrimination?

Many professional "suers" will purposely fall on the casino floor and initiate a lawsuit.

And some casinos pay up in order to avoid bad publicity.

Farkin' piker. Kerry Packer: Packer is famously quoted for an exchange in a poker tournament at the Stratosphere Casino, where a Texan oil investor was attempting to engage him in a game of poker. Upon the Texan saying "I'm worth $60,000,000!" Packer apparently pulled out a coin and asked nonchalantly, "heads or tails?", referring to a $120,000,000 wager (according to Bob Stupak's biography). Some variations of the story put the sum at $60–100,000,000 and claim the line was "I'll toss you for it".
