Iran invades 'Iraqi' territory to seize oil field
« on: December 18, 2009, 01:20:28 PM »
18 Dec 2009

Oil prices rose after reports emerged that a unit of Iranian military personnel had raised the Islamic Republic flag on East Maysan oilfield 4.

The Iranian troops were digging in last night almost 24 hours after the incursion was launched. "They positioned tanks around it and dug trenches," General Zafer Nazmi, the head of the Border Police in Basra said. "They are still there, they raised the flag."

Baghdad officials said a meeting of the National Security Council had been convened before the Iranian ambassador was summoned to hear an official protest.

The shared border of Iran and Iraq is contested territory that has remained an uneasy fault line since the end of a debilitating war that stretched over eight years in the 1980s.

Relations improved after Saddam Hussein was deposed and a Tehran-friendly government installed in Baghdad but an underlying border dispute has not been resolved.

Iran has been unsettled by recent deals to develop Iraq's oil industry, which are likely to see its Arab neighbour emerge in its place as the world's second biggest oil state.
Oil experts believe Iran is attempting to deter investment in Iraq's oil industry by targeting fields that are to be auctioned to foreign oil companies.
"The incursion only goes to highlight the still very uncertain conditions on the ground in Iraq that have been impeding the recovery of the country's oil sector," said Harry Tchilinguirian, a London-based industry analyst.

Iran also announced it was ready to undertake an aggressive expansion of its uranium production programme in defiance of international efforts to prevent its acquisition of an atomic weapon.

It said it would install third and fourth generation centrifuges capable of processing uranium faster and more reliably. Iran has been testing the advanced machines at its plant in Natanz and said it was ready to move to establish a full-scale production unit by 2011.

The new models are said to operate at twice the speed of the existing plant operated by Iran and boast improved reliability, which would put the state much closer to the threshold of nuclear power.

Major powers have offered to supply nuclear fuel to Iran for the production of energy but Iran has continued to expand its own production facilities.

Why is this not being reported more?  Is the US trying to downplay this event?

Maybe HH6 can shed some light on this matter.

You've been talking about that for weeks, but I've been screaming about that for years.

Of course when it happens, I'll be called a charlatan who makes money off people's misfortunes,
as opposed to someone who realized I couldn't stop the coming storm so I empowered myself to dance in the rain.

If there is pressure to smack Iran, ...all Iran has to do is close the straits of Hormuz,
...then the poop will really hit the fan. Those tankers of oil sitting in harbours around the world can only last so long. there will need to be boots on the ground to keep the straits open, ...in the meantime, the price of gas goes to upwards of $10 gallon.  You think it was bad before, ...you aint seen nothing yet.

There won't be any KY on this next round. You can scream about how your butt is gonna hurt,
...or you can designate your butt as outbound ONLY by preparing yourself for the coming storm,
...and position yourself to dance in the rain. If you don't think the rich have done this, ...or are doing this,
...you're straight up kidding yourself. The rich don't even eat from the regular food supply offered to the public.

Are you talking to me?  The price of gas is not going to be $10 a gallon in Venezuela, not even $3 a gallon.

Not talking to you specifically... just commenting on something you said.

As long as Chavez controls the oil in Venezuela, people in Venezuela will continue to have cheap oil.
SA and other middle eastern oil producers will also maintain cheap oil for their countries & citizens.
it's the rest of the world that will have to bend over and grab their ankles, ...and if I'm gonna get screwed,
...you better darn well believe I will be paid!!!! ok, here's where the unimaginative will stick the obvious punchlines.

I didn't say anything.  I asked, not necessarily you, a very simple question.  What you posted has nothing to do with it and did not answer my question.

And why did you write the last part of your post in white font?

Jag,

You haven't said anything that every single adult and probably teen in this part of the world knows.  If there's a problem in the middle east, oil prices may, and probably will rise.  Sometimes, I think if somebody steps on a spider out there they use it to justify increasing oil prices.

Here's an idea for you; give a date.

How about I try.  Here's my prediction:  Someday, gas prices will hit $7.00/gallon.  If there's problems in the middle east, someday might come sooner than later.

Now, someday, when gas hits $7.00/gallon, I'll bump up this thread and act like I'm a visionary.   8)

I thought some things were blatantly obvious, ...but I guess those who rode the short bus to school, still need it spelled out. YES, I believe the US would like to downplay this event. They want to leave the region.

Hahahaha... if I could time it, Warren Buffett wouldn't be the one referred to as the Oracle.  :D

All I have to go on is a prospectus from the Kuwaiti investment bank Markaz, which is predicting a stabilized $150/ barrel oil by late winter, early spring 2010. All their mile markers so far, have come true. It would be interesting to see if their final price comes to fruition in the time frame they predict.

You won't explain it because you can't explain it, because your long winded post has nothing to do with my question.

And again, how exactly have you positioned yourself to "dance in the rain"?  Fuel tabs?    ::)
