Quote
A young wigmaker's apprentice named Edward Gerrish[10] called out to a British officer, Captain Lieutenant John Goldfinch, that Goldfinch had not paid the bill of Gerrish's master. Goldfinch had in fact settled his account and ignored the insult. Gerrish departed, but returned a couple of hours later with companions. He continued his complaints, and the civilians began throwing snowballs at Goldfinch. Gerrish also exchanged insults with Private White, who left his post, challenged the boy, and then struck him on the side of the head with a musket. As Gerrish cried in pain, one of his companions, Bartholomew Broaders, began to argue with White. This attracted a larger crowd.[2]

this area is filled with wimps who are terrorized by weather....can't you feel the fear in the above quote?   this is just another day in Rochester, NY
Ah, New Yorkers, always thinking they are better than everybody else. I don't mind the the snow... But down here we don't get snow that much, and people don't even know how to drive when it rains. Also when you have a RWD sports sedan with low profile tires, snow is the worst enemy on earth. But I firmly believe that dealing with bad conditions make one a better and calmer driver. If I could I would take a Skip Barber class or the one offered by BMW.

Now, where is the fear in my post...or are wishing that, Yankee?

Snowballs fights is an evil and criminal activity. Any and all forms of violent acts must be quelled so that joy and love can prosper instead.  Most people are friendly and peaceful and physically weak but see no need to be strong fighters, their mindset is right. We all know this...

12/21/09:

As Chief of Police, I wanted to respond to the many messages received to our police listserv groups last night in reference to the off-duty police officer’s actions on last Saturday.  I have reviewed the video clips and heard from the public.  It is very obvious to me that the officer pulled his service weapon in response to the snowballs hitting his vehicle.  I have no doubt about this, nor has the officer denied the accusations.

Let me be very clear in stating that I believe the actions of the officer were totally inappropriate!  In no way, should he have handled the situation in this manner.  We have taken swift action by placing him on non-contact status until all the facts are gathered and discipline is handed down.

This officer’s conduct, in no way, reflects the training and the standards we hold each officer to at the Metropolitan Police Department.  During the course of this horrendous snow storm, our officers worked hard and made many significant arrests for drug and burglary crimes, as well as gun recoveries.  What is so disturbing is that, up until this incident, I had received several messages of thanks from the many people our officers assisted when their cars became disabled in the blizzard conditions.  So it does not sit well with me that the negative actions of one officer has become “viral” during a time when so many officers have done so much good.

I can assure you that we do take this matter very seriously and will handle it appropriately.

The video clips and the number of witnesses willing to come forward have proven a point I have reiterated, you are the additional eyes and ears in the community and your feedback in solving criminal complaints is crucial.

My office is receptive to this kind of information.  I encourage all residents to remain active in our fight against crime and to know that at MPD, we believe no one is above the law.

A couple winters ago I was walking through a park in Cardiff when a little brat threw a snowball at me. I promptly told the nine year old to fuck off and was then confronted by his father who told me not to swear at his son. I gave him my best hardman look, told him he could fuck off as well and then swaggered off feeling rather pleased with myself.

It was at this point I was hit in the back of the head by a shower of icy snowballs, followed by gales of laughter. I just scurried off out of the park with the little dignity I had left.

Also, I have the same Northface jacket as the guntoting detective in the video, but mine is in green.
