US Exec I know gets caught robbing a bank - shape of things to come ?

Interesting day today. I got to the office in the US and found out that a fairly senior guy got busted at the end of last month for robbing a bank.

Now - to put this in perspective, he was probably earning in excess of $150K, he had a wife and kids in college. He is pretty smart, fairly unfit and is not at all cut out for either bank robbery or prison time.

All this and he robs his local bank and goes back 3 weeks later to attempt to do the same thing.

He did have a very nice house that I visited about 5 years ago and he'd since upgraded to a bigger place. I suspect but don't know, that the re-mortgages caught up with him, either that or the guy flipped.

If someone like this can start robbing banks, it does make you wonder about all the REALLY desperate people out there...

He probably was in hock up to his ears living a phoney life fueled by debt.

how much can you make robbing a bank?  3 or 4 k tops?

certainly doesn't seem worth the risk.  you'd be better off robbing drug dealers

cops=trained in tatics and how to use and shoot a weapon...

drug dealers=for the most part non aimers and unknowledgeable on how to use their weapons with no training...

I was a teller when I was in college.  Unless you are going to go hard core and rob the entire branch (vault included) with a gang of crooks, there isn’t much money to be had in robbing an individual teller.  At best you are going to get $5-10K.  Not at all worth it in my view.  Every single bank robbery is investigated by the federal government because the money is insured by the FDIC.  You would be surprised at how often they solve robberies (catch the robber).  There are better ways to steal money; robbing a back is very 19th century.

Getting a job with the govt, in most positions at least, is a far better way to rob the taxpayer and get paid doing nothing whatsoever.
