Why are so many Americans anti-American?

This came up in a conversation recently and I am also interested in the answer.

Many American movies always show the terrorists as unwilling bad guys who are really the good guys and the American government, agencies or army as the evil guys.

I have read many blogs and I post on Political boards like this and so many Americans love dissing America.
Enemies are turned into some kind of mystical miss understood anti hero and American allies are blamed for everything.
And everything is an evil conspiracy.

Any one have any ideas

Remember Bill OReilly saying 2 years ago that his job was to be cheerleader for the president?

We love our country but think some of the people running it could be doing a better job.  We have different visions for how american should be.  Some people welcomes a nice civil war so they can get their rocks off, then a return to eating dung and catching flies all day around the campfire talking about the awesomeness of this homegrown green.  Others wish to limit everyone's income to $20 EURO per day, with the rest of their earnings being distributed to the other 19 people on their block who just don't feel like working due to whatever self-disagnosed shyness disorder keeping them from getting up when the alarm clock goes off daily.

Most of us (here on getbig at least) love America - we just have different visions for it.

Not true.  Politics is war without bullets.  Its about the direction of the country, tax laws, etc. 

Many of us who also read history are very interested in politics for obvious reasons, not emotional ones.

The truth is people are finally WAKING UP TO THE TRUTH...

They now are seeing their governments for what they are, they are seeing the large corporations that control the elected officials, they are tired of the bullshit that is going on, they are tired of wars, tired of being LIED TO, tired of everything. But don't feel like it is an entirely american thing...around the world this same sentiment is brewing or should I say BOILING OVER IN SOCIETY. It is about time people wake up and come out of that delusional mindset about being supposed superpowers, or wealthiest nation, or having military prowness, or the morbid freedom they talk about. Now is the time for them to direct that rage and anger at the real criminals, liars, deceivers, thieves, violators...

That is why I say vote for gridlock first, dismantle and defund next.  Get rid of BATF, DEA, NEA, EPA, DHS, the FED, IRS, etc.   

Its not "Anti-American" to be against government agencies that are actively subverting freedoms, my ability to generate an income, and my natural rights that the founders codified in the constitution and delcaration of independence.

Politics is essentially a form of religion for our culture. On some level people need to believe what they think and feel matter in the bigger picture. Without this belief only the very rich can afford hope. Political conflict can never end because people need the illusion of connectedness it provides and a distraction from their own reality.

Samson, you better hope people never wake up to the real truth. Our culture and economy could never survive that level of hopelessness or real change without urban warfare between its citizens.

Hold on bro.  Lets use what happened in Mass as an example.  We were on the "two minutes to midnight" of having ObamaCare go through until the people voted in Brown who said "I will be the 41st vote" to stop that monstrosity.    And that is deep-blue Mass!

Yes, its a small step in the right direction, but it shows people are waking up, even a little and that the pols better take notice.  The same will be for crap & tax and amnesty for illegal aliens.  People just are not going to take this shit much longer.   

Rome wasnt built or burned in a day.  Hopefully, more and more people will wake up to how bad this current crop of riminals is and vote every one out.  That is the start, and of course other measures to follow.

Thats simply not true on many levels.

No. 1.  Many small businesses were going to get screwed out the ass. 

No. 2.  It was not affordable and further eroded our nations' finances. 

No. 3.  It gave the govt more control over the health sector and the mechanism to hire hundreds of thousands of new govt employees.

No. 4.  It created an unconstitutional personal mandate to purchase a private produce from a private company. 


As for the bank bailouts, we have been screaming about it for well over a year now.  Where do you think the Tea Parties came from?  Its criminal what they have done.  It started with Bush and Obama took the ball and sprinted with it. 

The SHTF is coming soon BECAUSE of the government and people are sick of it.  Not only the Fed Guv, but the State Guvs as well.  Every level of govt is absolutely out of control and people are finally waking up that the real thieves are in the govt who are robbing us blind.  200k a year cops/fireman, bridges to nowhere, unions bribes, AIG bailout, etc etc.     

If people want to know why their dollar does not go as far anymore, and are forced on to credit, looking at Walmart is not the answer, looking at DC, Albany, Scaramento, etc is.  Yes the credit is a problem, I agree with you 100%.  However, why do people have to live on credit to begin with?  Do you think people paying 50% of greater in taxes might have something to do with it?   

Credit is a symptom of problem, not the problem itself. 
The govts hawve have spent and borrowed us into debt slavery.  We have allowed it to commit to unsustainable spending programs and committments that never should have been and we are only beginning to face the pain. 

Right now, for many people, they are education themselves as to what these robber barrons in govt have done and standing up, wihch is good IMHO.
