Bears defensive end Gaines Adams has died at the age of 26, according to the Greenville News in South Carolina. NBC4 in Greenville confirms the report.

Greenwood County Coroner James T. Coursey said Adams was declared dead after he was taken to an emergency room Sunday morning. Coursey said Adams appeared to be in perfect health.

Adams played his college football at Clemson. He was drafted fourth overall by the Bucs in 2007, then traded to the Bears last year.

WOW!! I didn't know about this. I've been fuming about the fact that the BUCS traded him to the Bears. He was doing well in '07 and '08 with Tampa Bay. I remember he scored a defensive TD against the Bears in a win. And, the following week, he had the game-sealing pick against the Packers.

His trade was simply part of the "house-cleaning" that the BUCS did to purge nearly all things Gruden.

I can't believe he's gone.

The dude was so quiet at Clemson and in Greenwood, S.C. I wished that he was able to get to Greenville, Memorial.

I cannot use any of that stuff - Epilepsy.  I have grown rather fawn of not having a seizure while squatting or Benching.

Sorry to hear that.  My sparring partner Carlos Hernandez  faught a guy who had a seizure in the ring after the ko.   The guy never told anyone (trainer or doctors) he had seizures.  It was a scary moment,   haven't heard of that kid anymore.

Yea, i have takin way too many hits to the head. I "try" to walk away now because each one causes "some" Brain Damage.  I had to learn to not tackle a 200lb Running Back with my head.

Coach Squires "Get your mothergfucking ass together and stop that fucker." I remember stopping one kid and i was playing SS and he hit me like Jacobs hit Woodson...I started walking to the other sideline.

When Brandon Jacobs ran into CHARLES WOODSON.  The guy wound up at University of South Carolina but i forget his name.....He flunked out and wound up making me a sandwhich at Subway.    He was recruited my U$C, Michigan, Florida, O$U,Texas, Oklahoma and every other big time program.
