Even though I doubt the judges had yet realised Nasser was already pumping shit into his rear delts and bis at this stage, I dont think those big, detal-less shoulders and arms benefited him as much as some striations and natural shape would have. Ronnies shoulders are much smaller but they come to life when he poses with a million defined stragnations. Nassers oil does not. Nasser was great, but I personally think even in 97 his biceps looked stupid and fake.

are you implying that being bald, with a huge head and a roving eyeball somehow worked against Nassoil?

I agree... all the oil he was pumping wound up backfiring on him, especially towards the twilight of his career.

Arnold and Dorian weren't American and they managed to do OK at the Olympia ;)

for the reasons that Arnold was JOe weider's GOlden BOy and Dorian was the GOlden Boy of Peter Mcgough. Jim Manion and Steve Weinberger

Now you are just resorting to making shit up... I never said I would perform fellatio on anyone, Tranny or otherwise...and if you are too dense to see the tongue-in-cheek quality of that entire thread, then you are really denser then even I had you pegged for.

Yes...but this just makes my point. Look at Arnold's Charisma... it didn't matter what he looked like. Imagine you were a judge, and you had a man with that much charisma in front of you, how could you not want to get behind him?

:)

He unfortunately only had only ONE more show in him after this (the 1999 ASC), where he brought a quality physique to the table. After that, it was only downhill for him.

this pic. in particular shows all ronnies weak points!!.. nasser has a much better front than ronnie, shape wise mainly..

With exception to his arms, I agree.

His '98 O showing was actually better than '97 I think, atlhough those bi's and post delts do raise a few questions  ;D.
He had a better overall flow than in '97 but still I think he lacked the conditioning and proportions he had in '95. '96 was the last year when he pulled more mass with pretty much a comparable conditioning to '95. And Ronnie was just a bit too much for anyone to handle that year. Nasser could have been second, Flex was way overrated that year.

I will now impart a great revelation to all the Nasser Worshipers...

Nasser's problem throughout his career was not his physique, it was his personality. He was simply too bland, and it was quite an accomplishment, that he got as far as he did.

There is more to success in bodybuilding then just having the best physique, it is also important that you know how to sell your act, and if Nasser knew how to project a more individualistic persona he probably would have an "O: to his name.

Sorry, but Dorian Yates was NO Mr. Personality himself, so this renders your argument invalid.

I have conversed with a good number of pros over the years, (keep in mind I live near Venice), though I have never met Nasser.

It is funny though... I remember having a conversation in 96 with a national level competitor about Nasser's bland personality holding him back. At the time I liked Nasser, from his interviews in FLEX, and such, but even then it was obvious that it was holding him back.

This may be different in person amongst his close friends...but it doesn't matter... if you cant translate that to the stage then so what?

Again, Dorian was just as, if not more bland.
