Opinions on UFC 110
« on: February 22, 2010, 06:46:31 AM »
Man, totally didn't see Valasquez dismantling Nog that way.  What a force he is.  Right now, I'm putting him at the top (along with Mir) of the heavy's.

I think he'd KO carwin and the same with Lesnar.  I bet money Lesnar is a tad nervous right now as I think he's got Cain on tap.

Thoughts?

Cain Velasquez vs. Junior Dos Santos would be a good fight.

I thnk it's gonna be:

winner of Mir v. Carwin (crowning the interrim champ) takes on winner of Lesnar v. Velasquez for the the title.

I predicted Cain would bury Nog-- He's a complete fighter, he's young, he's hungry and he's strong as hell.

To me he's like a compact Brock Lesnar with a bigger heart, much better striking and better stamina. Nog is one of the greatest of all time, but he's old, he's got a lot of milage and his punching power is lacking against the younger, bigger, stronger guys in the division.

I predicted Wandy would win-- but I really wasn't all that confident based on his UFC performances. The nasal surgery definitely helped his stamina-- he was able to stuff Bispings take downs, or pop back up immediately without a problem. Also, you didn't see him breathing from his mouth during most of the fight. Bisping demonstrated yet again why he's a mediocre fighter. He has zero punching power and can't handle being rushed by tough opponents.

The rest of the card was so-so. Bader/ Jardines was a pretty decent fight. Bader has a bright future if he can develop his game a little bit and stay healthy. Joe Daddy got absolutely embarrassed. He went in as the favorite and got completely dominated from bell to bell. Zavikous or whatever that Aussies name was, put on a show. That dude may be someone to watch at lightweight to possibly challenge BJ down the line. He has solid, compact striking and unbelievable jiu jitsu. The Cro Cop fight was unwatchable. The most action packed fight of the night was the prelim between Stefan Bonnar and that Polak from TUF. They put it on after the Nog  fight was over. Now that was a brawl.

So what do you see at heavy weight for the future?

I really see Cain as the frontrunner...although i need to see more of carwin.

It's really too bad we can't see Fedor mix it up with these guys.

We have to see how Carwin does against Mir-- But I predict that Velasquez is going to end up being the champion in the near future. He's only going to get better and his skill set matches up against the other young up and comers in the division. I think Mir will beat Carwin and face off against Velasquez. Velasquez will beat Mir and end up fighting Lesnar when he comes back for the title.

I actually somewhat agree with spin on his point about Fedor. But I honestly believe that he will run through Silva, beat Overeem for the HW title in strikeforce and then end up in the UFC. He only has a 3 fight contract with SF, and he is not looking to fight for that much longer. I'll bet anything Dana offers him like a 5 fight deal with cross promotion in the UFC and a ton of $$$. The amount of money that an undefeated Fedor/ Brock superfight in the UFC would generate is insane. And of course, you know win, lose or draw- there will probably be a rematch. Fedor will probably take the deal white offers and finish his career in the UFC.
