Okay so i've been thinking about this healthcare debate and how both sides are struggling to agree on anything, the left freezes out certain ideas, while the right tries to vote down everything even if it includes things they agree with.

So here on getbig we have a large right wing group of posters, we also have a good sized left wing group of posters. We have some independents but they either seem to be left wingers in disguise or right wingers in disguise.

Lets see if we, the people, can do any better and come up with a compromise on health care. Post what is a necessity for you for health care reform i.e. TARP reform, buying across statelines, a public run option etc. Lets see if we can come together better than congress and maybe get some agreement on what we would all like to see in a bill.

No bashing etc just ideas for what you want and don't want in a healthcare bill then we can debate the merits of each one.

My health care plan is fine and I dont give a flying fuck about the government trying to force me to pay for others.Let them rot in the street.Thats my plan.If your sick,you cant pay and dont have insurance,DIE guy.

The government gets rid of most of the BS regulations they have installed that has made Health Insurance damn near mandatory. Then once they have removed themselves for the most part from the private sector issue a public appology for fucking the system up and vow (beside necessary regulation) to never stick their noses where it doesn't belong again.

I pay 283 a month and think that is very fair considering the amount the insurer is on the hook for should some bad shit happen to me.

hmm so besides billy no one wants any reform of the current system? Okay. Well i hope none of you get sick or have pre existing conditions or care the your premiums will go up after you've been treated to a level you may not be able to afford.

No I don't want "reform" I want the government out, as I stated, there were not all these problem before the government ( the one you think is going to actually fix something, and not line their and the insurane companies pockets) got involved.

I guess i should add what i would like to see -

- TORT reform and the right to waive Dr liability (currently you can not do that and the whole system is flawed it's been proven that how a Dr treats you personally has a bearing on whether or not that Dr will be sued for malpractice, it has nothing to do with their actual care but their personality)

- Either a public option run by the government for all those who cannot afford or are not covered by insurers OR

- A similar plan administered by an insurance company that gets some incentive to do so.

Those are a couple of big ones, what else would people like to see in a bill?

Getting government out of healthcare is reform. HMOs anybody? fucking bullshit.

-shop across state lines. The fact that it's ILLEGAL now is fucking bullshit.

-no denying of insurance for people with pre-exsting conditions. Pay higher? Sure, but everybody's premiums shouldn't go up either. Fucking bullshit.

-no more anti-trust exemptions for insurance companies...fucking bullshit.

-SS, medicare, and medicaid taxes are listed by law as CONTRIBUTIONS! That implies voluntary willingness in the system. If you choose to opt out, when you need it you don't get it. I'll take more of my money now thank you. Fucking bullshit.

Yeah, a very general list, but it's been a very long day for me. Hopefully this discussion will take off this weekend. It should be a good one.

Massive tort reform
Abolition of pre-existing conditions clause
Abolition of public option
Abolition of anti-trust (not convinced it will help, but it may)
Controls to prevent medical inflation from exceeding regular inflation
Caps on Big Pharma
Some type of temporary carry over for people who lose their jobs
Abolition of coverage caps
Abolition of the Individual Mandate
Requirement that everybody in Congress must participate in the plan

Everything except maybe

caps on big pharma: I dont think it would help they will just find other ways of getting around them

Requirement that congress participate in the plan: I think this is somewhat hypocritical as we want to be able to choose our own plan, I will change it though and say that we the tax payers no longer pay for their health plans...

Health care does indeed need reform. But it needs to start with - and for - the people who already have it before just handing it out to everyone who doesn't have it. Better coverage, more approval, pre-existing clauses restructured, etc.. for the members paying in.

There are already two kinds of free health care out there. Welfare for American citizens and the emergency room for the illegals. Can't tell you the number of times I make the rounds in my ER and see illegals who bring their kids in because they have the sniffles or a cough.
