He says 'starting over' as repubs want, will leave us in the same place a year from now.

Reform has already passed house and senate - and now it deservers the same up/down vote used on SChip, COBRA, welfare reform, and the Bush tax cuts - all of which had to pass congress with only a simple majority.

He's giving congress a few weeks to nail down the wording on the bill.

Then, everyone in the hosue and senate will have to say YEA or NEA.

I'll leave it to others to sift thru the politics - this is about what reform means for the sick person, etc.

I urge every american who wants this reform to make their voice heard as well.

[/kenyan]

Where are thse folks that declared it dead 6 months ago?  He's using reconciliation, and he's going to force everyone in congress to say NO to the next step in the social security/medicare ladder - I don't think many will have the guts to oppose it in an up/down vote.

I beg to differ. The "nuclear" option is for the SENATE version of the bill, which contains "Gatorade", the "Cornhusker Kickback", the "Louisiana Purchase", and a whole bunch of foolishness that several House Dems have stated, point blank, that they WILL NOT PASS.

And, many ain't trying to commit political suicide for Pelosi (who can easily run her mouth, since she comes from a loony-far-left district).

Remember that the House version BARELY PASSED; Pelosi has lost at least 5 votes, due to retirement or death.

The Dems are rushing this for a reason. They don't want to go home and feel the wrath of their constituents, during the Easter break.

It will be dead. Or those who vote for it will die in Novemeber., One thing you need to learn about politics 240 is once things start to affect them individually, then they run and hide to protect their butts. Just go ask Patterson in NY.
Another thing about the reform being ABOUT the SICK person.. This statement alone shows me you are clueless to the truth of what Obama's agenda is about. HE WANTS GOV'T CONTROL...! IT'S NOT ABOUT THE SICK! Speeding tickets are as much about the safety to drivers as is this bill is to the uninsured. It's about control, revenue, and big gov't. If they truly wanted to lower costs, then allow for out-of-state purchases, malpractice reform, to start off with... Instead, Mr. O wants to force people to buy healthcare. Gives unions who supported him a tax freebee. And he said it's about price controls too?? Righht. That works.

He truly is the worst saleman I have ever seen.  Of course he appeals to the fools among us, but to anyone with a brain, they see through his lies and garbage.

Last time I checked we still live in a representative republic, I have yet to hear someone, beside the brain dead think this bill is a good idea. I don't give a fuck how big a margin you were voted in by, it doesn't mean you get to go to DC and do whatever the fuck you want. It's time for people to wake up and remember they work for you, not the other way around.

The GOP got that way, just a few years ago, after Bush's re-election. And they got killed in 2006.

If you really probe them with questions, most democrats are marxist/communist/lenninists at their core and really clamor for the the idea of the "benevolent dictator" to usher in their socialist utopia.

Yes because it's worked so well in the past ::) Like I have said many times before the only one's who want communism are those who have never lived under a communist regime.

I support reform and agree with some of the provisions in this bill, but its basically the senate version, which is a bloated 2400-2700 page legal mess creating more government positions & bureacracy, more gov control, doesn't remove special protections given to the insurance industry, doesn't address national insurance competition, doesn't specifically address overall malpractice reform, gives the union a special deal and has a huge expansion of medicaid (which is already underfunded).  I don't see where this addresses cost and the tab is $1 trillion dollars that we don't have.

We needed a smaller package of reforms.  They could have taken a lot from this bill and passed a smaller package which is less costly and more focused on bringing down healthcare costs.

240- You need to back up a bit and rethink Who Obama truly is to understand where this man is with pushing the healthcare bill as hard as he has. Even after with the voices of America have told him no, voted in a republican into one of the more liberal seats in MASS.
Obama was the least vetted presidential hopefuls America has ever seen. And once things started to surface by means of his affiliations, they were marginalized to only circumstance. For the last 14 months we have learned Obama is no centrist. He talks the centrist game well, but he is no centrist. His actions say he is very liberal. in fact, he is the most liberal president we have ever seen. His apology tour around the world, his most liberal appointees, feeling sorry for America's ills, his stand-offs with Isreal, his talkover of banks, limiting pay, cap and tax to a point businesses are handcuffed... He truly believes he is taking from the rich what truly belongs to the poor. Obama hatest this country and how it was founded. His education came from left wing raticals throughout his life. He was abandoned by his father, and he feels he ate the crap-sandwich fed to him by white corporate America.

Now, go back and see why this helathcare bill is soo important to him, and not a jobs summit, or tackling the war on terror and you will see who Obama truly is. And why working Americans are deathly afraid of this man, and his cabinet.

Maybe I'm just crazy, but since we can thank the federal government for giving us HMO's....... why would anyone believe they could actually fix this.

I have a water leak, I call a plumber, he comes out quotes $30 fixes the problem in 2 hrs and it actually cost $30.

Now we make the plumber work like the government does. I call the plumber get transfered around to 5 different people until I can actually talk said plumber about the job. Plumber comes out quotes the job at $30. After 6 months of delays and buracratic read tape the pipe has duct tape rapped around it and the cost has balooned $10,000. Now since the pipe is temporarily fixed I will have to call the plumber out after a certain amount if time to fix the same problem again. So this time he comes out quotes the job at $60 because it is going to take time to fix the mess he made in the first place. So now after a year of delays and burocratic red tape, the pipe has a bandaid on it, and I am informed that the repair will not go until effect for 4 years but that I have to pay him now.

I just called Gillibrand and Schumer and told their office to expect protests in front of their offices if they vote for this garbage.  I was polite and said:

1.  The bill passes along Medicade taxes to localities and will drive up taxes.
2.  Has a individual mandate which is unconstitutional.
3.  Has crippling taxes and mandates for small businesses.

They don't care. Chucky is a far left loon, and Gill is in the closet liberal acting as if she is a centrist. It seems these kooks want this because even if they know it may cost them their jobs, it is what they wanted for years; ie gov't contrtol. But they also know that the republicans would need a supermajority to repeal it. So, why not go out with a bang...? I think they don't have the votes. Atleast not right now. But that is unless they continue to bribe themselves the votes and then we are all doomed to high taxes
