Dieting: ultimately about willpower...
« on: March 25, 2010, 07:26:52 PM »
and less so about other factors (macronutrients, etc.)...assuming you just want to get very lean but not contest shape or anything...

Agree or disagree?

I agree 100%.  That is why parents should never give their kids sweets and fast food.  Start them on the right path.  I have never seen an overweight Amish kid.

Well, I admit, it's a lame thread but I am willing to admit I fail every diet because I just fuck up on the willpower issue and then...oh well.

I would bet that it is harder to stay the course since you know how good shit food is.  Of course the human body doesn't need it to survive.  It's more like a crack addiction.

Staying the course. Yeah, it's the good food. Maybe if someone could create an image of how I would look ripped I could be motivated enough to go for it...oh well.

you just gotta start viewing food as energy, nothing more, nothing less.  I've been eating roughly chicken, sweet potatoes and broccoli every day since feb 1st and i've lost 30 lbs. I have one cheat meal a week.

it you mix the sweet potatoes, chicken and broc all together... it tastes pretty good.  If you need something more, get salt free ketchup.

I've found that having a distinct date and pay-off works best. Quite a few times it was a bet with others trying to get ripped as well. Competition is a big motivator.

So is fear of failure.

Post some before pics here, then set out to achieve your goal.

Nothing like fear of the wrath of getbig to help motivate you.

Good luck.

Yeah, an amateur guy at my gym said it's real hard without a set date...or deadline to meet.

Yeah competition would work for me but everyone I know has no interest in losing weight or getting fit and I sure in the hell am not going to the gym to ask random people if they want to have a contest...lol.

to tell you the truth deicide my wife fucks me up with my diet and I do the same to her as well.  If she is doing good then I start telling her all of the foods that would taste good.  Next thing you know we are both in the car headed up to get some cookies and shit...lol.  I did better on my diet when I smoked weed but that isn't an option now unfortunately.

How did that weed thing ever work out? You got off, right?

You just gotta put yourself in a hardcore mindset and say fuck being comfortable. I'm gonna be a dirty animal.

To me the hard part about dieting is planning meals and having to be picky at restaurants, and turning down food in social situations.

But the cravings aren't too bad for me. I like to punish myself. Right now i'm bulking though and eating tons of shit  8)

You just have to go fuck it that's what i'm eating and that's it and shut your mind off.

If you get so hungrey you cannot control it you have to up the food somewhere or add some junk in at the right moments to help the diet.
