Seeing all those pics Ronnie does appear huge as always but what about those Doherty Gym pics? I always thought Ronnie was one the biggest up close but these pics are just disappointing.

No homo or do you know first hand?

You just don't get it do you?
Ronnie appears huge in almost all photographs but in these Doherty Gym pics he doesn't look nearly as big.

Next to average gym goers he doesn't look as huge or wide as in any of the pics.
In all other pics he looks like the usual huge Ronnie (no homo) and actually looks like a 300lbs wide bodybuilder.
Look at him here next to an average beach bum

Huge difference compared with the above pics. No disrespect to Ronnie but what gives? Are they photoshopped?

what's with the width fetish?

it's all about thickness in my oppinion, ronnie is 10 times bigger than any of those people, thickness is size, not bone structure  ::)

Nah, I think they are real. You have to remember that a lot of these guys are really short. Height makes a huge difference in how big someone will appear to you. I remember seeing Melvin Anthony quite frequently in my local gym, and with a shirt on, you wouldn't even know the guy was a bodybuilder. There were tons of guys in the gym who were "bigger" than him. Hell, I was as wide as him because I'm 6' 2". I've also seen Jay Cutler in person, and although he's definitely bigger than Melvin, when you're only 5' 9", you have a limit on how big you can truly look.

You also have to take in account when each of the pics were taken. Was the pic in question taken around 2005-2007? You know, when Ronnie started looking like crap.

2005, a week or two after the olympia, he was 275 lbs in 2005 O, so maybe he is 280 - 285 lbs there.. but if you break it down you can see his forearms and arms dwarf the dude behind, ronnie doesnt have a particular wide structure, though the guy behind him is probably 6'2

Most Australians have huge bone stuctures and dwarf the much smaller Americans, yes even American bodybuilders. Lee Priest would have been 6'3 and the best bodybuilder in the world if he didn't stunt his growth by starting steroids at age 14.

Nathan Jones is a good example of the size of a normal average Australian male. Here he is standing next to a typical average American, see the difference in the genetics of the Australian, the product of evolution on an isolated island with no natural predators or enemies:

Dude, your first statement is beyond ignorant. Especially for the fact that Anglo Americans and Aussies came from the same place or origin. Then you have the People of mixed African origin over here. Also when the Europeans came over to America they were dwarfs by Native Americans, who were around 6 feet tall. This was due to their high protein diets.

In fact, Asians raised on high protein diets are significantly taller than their predominantly rice eating counterparts, and Asian women with higher protein diets have bigger breasts as well.

Average male height in Australia is 5'10".
like how he says the difference in genetics, weren't the main Euro settlers of Aussy land criminals? As it was a penal colony?

I think those sleeveless shirts are not flattering at all. They detract from shoulder width and hide the delt/arm tie in which in Ronnie's case is dramatic. Also, because it's loose fitting it hides the chest as well. Messiah is right. Ronnie in his prime was on another level. Remember, even our great absent god of hormones, gh15, said that Ronnie was the only person he was afraid to stand next to. Quite a statement from an admitted narcissist and ego maniac.

Ronnie was plenty big. Even next to some of the biggest men on the planet.

Australia has it's share of big bastards, but Nathan Jones is hardly typical of a "normal average Australian male".

Only context where he'd be an average male is among WSM competitors.

In my experience, the few Australian's interested in bodybuilding tend to be a little larger (wider and taller) than their American counterparts.

Seems like a lot of American's who get into the sport do so because they are much smaller and want to compensate.

I saw Ronnie siging photos at the '08 Olympia Expo and I was dumbstruck byt he size of his arms - just the sheer size and conditioning - especially the big vein running down - crazy shit. I've never seen him onstage though.

well you have to see to believe... i saw many big guys on gyms and things like that but Ronnie is on another planet. He is not that tall, but he isnt a midget also...

you would have to see a side comparison with the other twinks to get a real comparison

I would guess that Ronnie is/was huge (no homo) but what about those pics? I couldn't believe it was Ronnie in his prime (2005). Most pros look huge up close but there he is next to normal gym rats.
Are you trying to say he doesn't look like a monster next to those people?  ??? They are probably avid lifters, and Ronnie makes them look as though they barely work out.

You need to actually meet Ronnie or another IFBB pro and not just stare at pictures online.
