SF is really fucking the dog with how it is running things.

If I had an organization with the number 1 HW and 2 top ten LHW's that was working in tandem with DREAM, I would be doing a much better job putting match ups together.

It has been nearly two and a half years since Alistair Overeem won the inaugural Strikeforce heavyweight title. It now appears that he will finally return to the United States and fight for the promotion that minted his belt.

Overeem on Monday tweeted that he is likely to return at an as yet unannounced Strikeforce event on May 15 to face Brett Rogers.

He later told MMAJunkie.com that the fight would likely not be a title defense since Rogers lost to Fedor Emelianenko in his most recent outing. Still, it will serve as his return to mixed martial arts after a year where he focused heavily on K-1 kickboxing bouts.

"It's been too long. Last year was a good year in K-1, but this year, I want to fight in MMA,” he told MMAJunkie. He added that a highly anticipated fight with Fedor wasn’t likely to happen anytime soon because he didn’t think Fedor wanted to fight him and that the top heavyweight might be looking to leave Strikeforce.

MMAWeekly.com sources confirmed that the bout between Overeem and Rogers is likely to happen and that a return to St. Louis and Showtime on May 15 is the expected target.

A split with the Russian powerhouse, however, doesn’t appear to be on the table; at least, not yet. As of the time of publication, our sources indicated that Fedor is still expected to face Fabricio Werdum on an undetermined future fight card.

So are you agreeing or disagreeing?

What you have stated in the first paragraph is the reason Strikeforce wants to make this a title fight. (But the opponent is a bad decision)
Two years with the belt with no title defense fights = bullshit.

I personally think it should be Werdum instead of Rogers because he already beat Overeem before & with the Fedor drama Werdum might not get to matchup with Fedor. So fuck Fedor & fight Overeem.
Strikeforce needs to think about good business decisions & reputation above all else. If this train continues to go through on the current track its on then Strikeforce will be another Corp. that has fallen to the inexperience game.

I just don't even think Strikeforce knows what's going on at the moment HICKSON.  I think Fedor not fighting this month is screwing up their plans a little bit.  I would personally like to see Fedor and Overeem in the UFC.

since overeem began his hormone regimen, he has been looking real good.  he dominates most of his fights with the clinch and some brutal knees.  brett rogers on the other hand wont be susceptible to allistair's clinch and delivers some brutal shots of his own.  brett is a solid fighter with a great attitude and a true respect for the game.  shit, this game took him out of his walmart tle $9 an hour job and put him and his family into a new house.  he's hungry and def learned something in losing to fedor.  I'll take rogers.

The fight of the year. My prediction: Rogers ill destroy Alistair Overrated. They are both great strikers, but Rogers has the edge in strength and he can take a beating. There's no evidence that Overrated can stay up after taking a serious strike to the head like Rogers has shon he can in the fight ith Fedor after he took that left hook in the first round. Any other guy besides Rogers ould have fallen asleep. Even after taking Fedor's right hand punch, the most devastating in mma history, Rogers still remained conscious. Alistair ill stay up because he can't fight on ground, and Rogers ill knock him out or ear him out and in points. A single one of Rogers punches ill put Overrated to sleep if it connects anyhere to the head, but I can't see Overrated knocking Rogers out because he lacks poer. Yes...

alistair will not trade with rogers, he will work the clinch with knees and press him against the cage, he is stronger with better wrestling and not stupid enough to trade with a striker. overeem wins tko knees

I don't care about the pessimism, I am looking forward to this event. I also still want to see Arlovski fight, and I am a fan of Randleman too.

This fight should test where Rodgers is at. He does not have a size advantage and if he can hang with Alistar, he's for real in my book. Although if Rodgers wins and Fedor beats Werdum, I would not want to see a rematch between the two and would rather see Fedor face Overeem. That would be rather anti climatic.

Bump this thread and watch it live May 15, Dana told you to. :)
