From someone in the engineering business I can say yes or no. It depends on the situation here. Airlines may not do "routine" checks because it costs thousands in labor costs. That is a calc. risk. But that risk could be huge if it rears. So BP may have if they thought the risk was a small amount of oil would be released and not this mess they have today. It is part of business and they got burned by their "calculated risk." Now, I say pay up, BP.

Great! We don't pay the real cost of energy anyway.  Factoring in environmental effects and health risks associated with the burning of fossil fuels, ethically it's very easy to see why fossil derived energy should cost more.  BP is going to pass on any 'losses' they make to consumers through higher prices anyway isn't it time we sought something better?  The way to do that is to allow for the real cost of fossil fuels to be paid for up front not over time like we have been doing.  This focuses us all on energy conservation and helps push the need for alternative energy forms that do not have such costly, both environmentally and ethically, mishaps.

The point is this is all based on the lie of man made global warming.If you look at the studies this cap and trade scheme will have almost ZERO effect on the atmosphere.This is another government scheme to control the energy sector,just like they now control health care,the auto industry and the banking industry.This is Obamas plan.Have government control everything so they then can dicte what cars we drive,how hot we have our houses,what we eat,where we go etc.Its the liberal wet dream because THEY know better then us how to run our lives.

Sorry sir, you are the one misguided if you actually think that cap and trade will lead to other forms of energy than fossil fuels.  It does nothing to stem the tide of carbon and only puts more money into the pockets of the already super rich.  Cap and Trade is a scam period.
