Please explain how this was done.
ok.
from 2003 thru 2007 the Spurs and the Pistons dominated the NBA. they were smaller market teams so the ratings dwindled despite providing pure, top-level basketball. Spurs sweep cleveland in '07 in the most lop-sided Finals in recent memory, resulting in low ratings.
then...in 2008...it 'just so happened' that the Lakers announced they got pau gasol. one of the top 2-3 bigs in the NBA, an Incredibly valuable player, and the perfect fit for kobes lakers. problem is, nobody else even knew he was on the trading block. other coaches and GM's voiced their anger and even called bullshit. also, the Lakers gave up NOTHING for him. it was the most criminally one-sided trade in league history. and it just so happened that jerry west (hall of famer lifetime Laker) was in charge of the team that Gifted him to the Lakers.
now, at EXACTLY THE SAME TIME, the boston celtics recieved TWO HALL OF FAMERS at the same time, in exchange for nothing.
the Celtics had been mediocre for TWENTY YEARS, had won 20 games the year before, then OVERNIGHT became the best team in the whole NBA. the GM who gave Garnett to the celtics? kevin mchale, boston celtic legend.
their one-season turnaround set an NBA record-from 20 years of mediocrity and a 20 win season to winning 66 games, best in the NBA, and winning the Title from one year to the next.
so, following years of domination by two smaller market teams, we have-literally overnight- a series of Miraculous trades and dealings, with incredibly coincidental circumstances, at the same exact time, which led to the sudden rebirth of the lakers-celtics rivaly, and all these incredible things which led to these two teams suddenly becoming Dominant played out entirely by chance, of course
