Dalton McGuinty

Here is what our (no, "the" premier.  He is not our premier because he has not been working in the interest of Ontario citizens) premier has done for Ontario and Ontarians in the past seven years since his no tax increase election campaign.

1.  He increased all the licensing fees from your car to your boat including fishing and hunting.

2.   He introduced the health care premium  (not called a tax) some couples pay as much as $1,500.00 a year.

3.   He doubled the price of most lottery tickets. (Not called a tax).

4.   He has put a ECO tax on many containers such as paint cans and window washer fluid.
Most people still don't realize it is included in the purchase price.  He kept that one real quiet

5.   He has put a disposal tax on all electronics.

6.   He has put the disposal tax back on tires

Now don't forget that all except the health care premium are subject to the GST and PST (taxes on taxes).  And now he has passed the HST--the largest tax on the province ever (the only other tax in Ontario that ever came close to this in the past was the health care premium).  He (with the votes of the politicians we elected but who chose not to take a stand for us and vote against it) passed this bill even though 76% of the people in Ontario were against it.

This HST will provide the Province with an additional THREE BILLION dollars a year.

7.   Now we will have S.M.A.R.T. meters. We will have to pay rent on them and do our laundry in the middle of the night.

8.   We are going to pay big time for air conditioning from now on because it will be "prime time" when we need it the most (as if it will cost more to produce hydro at 2:00 p.m.  than at 10:00 p.m.).   This is another tax grab.

9.  Let us not forget the E health scandal with 1.2 billion dollars wasted and paid out to friends and relatives.

Mr. McGuinty's answer to this was well if the people of Ontario don't like it they can show it in the next election.
Nice attitude (and hopefully Ontarians WILL remember and show it in the next election).

9a.   McGuinty fired the CEO and gave her a severance package of $300,000.
Not bad for only having the job for seven months.

10.  He awards the windmill power plant contract to KOREA for seven BILLION DOLLARS.
One would think that there was some company in Canada or North America that could build these.

11.  He closed the emergency rooms in Port Colburne and Fort Erie because there is not enough money.
There has been two deaths since the closures because by the time they got to St.Catherines it was too late.

12.  But awards a hospital in Toronto three million dollars in the riding where there just happens to be a by-election to replace George Smitherman

13.  He has taken Ontario, the richest most prosperous province in Canada, and created one of the poorest with a deficit of TWENTY SEVEN BILLION DOLLARS and he still has a year and a half to go.

14.  Lets not forget his nice little salary increase of  $40,000.00 a year.
Millions of people in the province don't earn half that.

15.  All the MPP'S got 14% increase

16.  After the nice increases he comes out with a new budget and freezes all provincial employees wages for two years.

17.  He increased the hydro by 10% in April of 2010.

18.  He increased the tax on liquor and wine by 10% in May of 2010.

But Mr. "no tax" McGuinty doesn't have to worry about any of those tax increases.
He will retire with his HUGE pension and all his paid benefits.

I hope this gets passed around the province of Ontario and everybody will remember the way we got screwed by Mr. McGuinty and the liberal party.

Remember, not one liberal MPP had enough guts to vote against any of the above.

We need the laws changed so that those who are stealing our present and future prosperity can be charged and sentenced to serve  appropriate long term sentences in prison.

wait, I thought the losers of Americans elections were sent to canada, and they
became your leaders?  Palin and mccain aren't your prime ministers now?  john kerry isn't in charge of your military?  Al Gore doesn't run Sea World up there?

I'm confused.

I'm confused.

The damage the Conservatives did to this province during the Mike Harris & Ernie Eves years was so severe, and they brought such turmoil to our lives that the Liberals under Dalton McGuinty were able to not only be swept into office, but also to break a few critical campaign promises just weeks if not days after being elected.

During the next election, John Tory, (appropriately named) the leader of the Tories ran on a single platform of bringing equal funding for religious education to the province. Currently Ontario funds secular public education, and the Catholic school boards. if someone wants their kids to be instructed at a religious school other than Catholic, they must pay for it themselves. We had no choice in the matter. If we voted for the left wing NDP, they would have taxed us to death and created an environment that discouraged business. If we voted for the right wing conservatives, we would have seen a rise in the building & funding of Islamic schools which we did not want to pay for, and the conservatives had no other issue. I guess they were going after the huge muslim vote, but even they said screw that, we want to hear what else you have planned for us, and the Tories had no other plans.

John Tory only ran for provincial office after a failed bid to become mayor of toronto. if he couldn't get elected to run Toronto as mayor, what made the conservatives think he could be elected to run the province? The only thing left was the centrist party the liberals who are more than capable of doing a good job... so long as they don't succumb to greed, cronyism, and graft. The punitive measures taken against Ontario by the Harper government in Ottawa didn't help matters much either. It's easier to hide the abuse in a good economy, but when the Feds pull the rug out from under your feet, hiding the excess is a little harder to do.

For the first time in my adult life (other than the time I voted for Bob Rae), I'm actually considering not voting for the Liberal Party of Canada at he provincial level. If the other parties don't come up with a decent candidate, and a decent policy platform, I might actually sit out the next provincial election.

If only mayor Hazel McCallion of Mississauga could be persuaded to give up her mayors seat which she has held for the past 32 years and run for Premiere of this province. She'd clean up the mess, and get this province back in the black.

Sounds like Ontario needs a MUTINY. Where is 3...he can help you guys coordinate gun purchases, set up shooting ranges, rile up anti-government sentiment and teach people how to survive off of the land. Once you guys have decapitated your government, taken control of your banks, returned manufacturing to Ontario...things should get better.

Nah... there'll be no mutiny. As bad as the new taxes are... an NDP government would be hell on earth,
...and the Conservatives have their heads up their anatomy. at times like this Doug henning and his group of bouncing levitators might actually have a chance.

Guns don't flow like water up here, ...unless you're talking about hunting rifles.

Live off the land?! are you on drugs?! You've obviously never encountered an Ontario winter.

Our banks and bankers aren't as corrupt as the ones stateside, ...but they're still a piece of work.

We've got plenty of manufacturing, but our biggest customers are now broke.

A guy like 333 wouldn't get 5 mins with Canadians before we were looking at him with disdain, like something stuck on the bottom of our shoes. We respond more to reason, calm and intellectual strategy, than to loudmouth rabble rousers. 333 and the drinking with Bob guy wouldn't last 5 mins in Ontario.. maybe in northern Quebec if they knew how to speak Quebecois

  • There's somethin out there, and it ain't no man.
18 reasons to move from that forsaken province. I spent 15 years there trying to get a job in my field. Finally I said screw it and moved to Alberta. Immediately almost tripled my income, no PST, housing market is on par with Toronto, its cleaner and the hunting is the best in Canada just for starters. It is the Texas of the north and the new economic engine of Canada.

I remember when we had that first big migration to Calgary Alberta in the early 80's.
It was wild. We heard stories of 9th & 10th grade drop outs moving to Calgary and landing jobs with starting salaries of 50K - 100K /yr. Guys renting spacious upscale 4 or 5 bedroom houses for $250 a month. Absolutely wild! I understand housing prices have shot up since then, ...but still much lower than Toronto.

You almost had me until you said "Texas". Now i'm skeered. Most Texans are dumb as dirt.  ;)

Besides, I don't know if I could handle a terrain with hundreds of miles of flat land in any direction without a single hill in sight. I have a few friends in medicine Hat, and everytime they go to the airport, they're looking at a 4 hr drive of straight flat road. One guy actually ties a belt to the steering wheel and dozes off.
