I guess being that NY received millions in anti-terror funding they have to do things to make it seem as though they are putting the money to good use (rather than its usual pocketing of funds). Imagine a cleaning solution spill on the 53rd floor of a high rise office building causes the whole of Seventh Avenue to be shut down. Talk about over doing it. If the "chemical"" was so serious why was the staff of the building who were "contaminated" sent home instead of to a nearby hospital?...Only in NY

NEW YORK (CBS 2) – Firefighters responded to Times Square after workers spilled some sort of chemical Sunday at 1515 Broadway.
Dozens of emergency vehicles remained on the scene late Sunday night in Times Square on reports of a 10-gallon chemical spill on the building’s 53rd floor, reports CBS 2′s Dave Carlin.
Sources told CBS 2 that two workers spilled a chemical that is hydrogen peroxide-based. They were exposed to the chemical and had to be decontaminated, but were then sent home.
The fire department shut down Seventh Avenue in the heart of Times Square while authorities investigated the incident, and Hazmat personnel were on-scene.
Onlookers in Times Square didn’t seem to worry thanks to the heavy emergency presence.
“Not concerned. I figured if there was something really wrong, obviously they would make sure we weren’t around,” Jennifer Snelling, visiting the city from Boise, Idaho, said. “[We’re] just watching them do their job and do it well.”
The leak was contained. Authorities said no one’s life was ever in any danger, and that their actions were merely a precaution.
