« on: December 02, 2010, 11:26:34 PM »
Why does everything cost 199.95 or 19,995.00 etc?
Why dont they just round up?

It's to make sure the cashiers in shops have to put the sale through to get change and thus prevent the cashier putting the cash in their pocket.
Been this way since the invention of cash registers.  Not so relivant now with card purchases.

I assumed it was because $9.99 sounds much cheaper than $10.00 when in reality it is only 1c

a better question is why don't all prices include the tax?  why is the 19.95 even posted when you dont hand ove that amount of cash, its always liek 22.07 which is the real price in cash

same with pay

why do I say I make 100,000 when I get 60,000 cash?  the pay should be the real cash you get AFTER taxes

the other number is not real, since you never use it or get it
