I know that getbig has morphed into a board with a lot of silly, often funny stuff, (sometimes)related to BB.
*But seriously, if you really think the Olympia is a gaywad festival and have little respect for the pros, why do you follow the sport?*

I would say a sport is defined as an athletic event where points can be objectively obtained for more than one competing body in direct competition, within set parameters.  Although by this definition, table tennis would be a "sport".  But anyway, I still do not consider bodybuilding to be a sport.

As for why people who seem to hate bodybuilding and hate bodybuilders post on here, the reason is because they work out and lift weights and where else are their message boards relating to that?  You pretty much have to subscribe to a bodybuilding board to get the kind of information related to lifting weights.  But lifting weights and taking muscle building to the extreme is not what most of those people want, hence solving the getbig paradox as to how seemingly interested fans can be such haters at the same time: They are fans of lifting weights to build muscle, not necessarily fans of bodybuilding in the extreme sense of the pro ranks.

Nothing wrong with eating right, training and keeping healthy but why do guys need to prance about in a thong for multiple hours over multiple nights to be judged, doesnt take more than a few seconds or so to see who has more mass/more aesthetic/conditioned etc.

It was close this yr, no question. My modern pro BB standards , sheer size and freaky mass are the trump card.

at the expense of every other factor ?

well then you should be fired immediately, as you are clearly not an impartial judge.

this is the problem with the IFBB right here - even the so called expert judges have no fucking clue how to judge a contest.  ::)

Jim Rockell was pretty clear that while size is NOT the only factor it is a big factor and often the difference.
It is what it is  ;)

if that was true then frank zane should never have won an olympia.

the judging criteria is set in stone. mass does not out rank any other factor.

unless all other factors are equal.

all other factors between dex and branch were not equal, not in the slightest.

I agree with you but neither of us in an IFBB judge.
I was in a contest in 1986. It was the Golds Classic in Fayetteville, NC.
This was during the midst oif the Lee Haney era and the head judge told us the following at the athlete check in briefing.

'The national office of the NPC ( and IFBB pros) has decided that cuts and shape alone are NOT the winning factor. We will consider muscle size as a major factor in picking winners.'
I guess they didn't want another Zane to be the top dog.
