Black Judge Rejects Plea Deal for ‘White Boy’

PITTSBURGH (The Blaze/AP) — A black judge from western Pennsylvania rejected a plea agreement for a man accused of fighting with police during a traffic stop saying it was “a ridiculous plea that only goes to white boys.”

Allegheny County Judge Joseph Williams, who is black, claimed on Tuesday that a black defendant in the same situation would not have been treated as leniently.

The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review says Williams made the comments after a prosecutor proposed three months of probation for a white man with no criminal record who agreed to plead guilty to disorderly conduct.

Williams recused himself after making the comments and a white judge accepted the plea agreement for 24-year-old Jeffery McGowan, who had faced charges including aggravated assault.

Williams’ secretary on Wednesday told The Associated Press the judge does not give interviews.

However in court, he did offer some “observations”:”(Assistant District Attorney Brian) Catanzarite for some reason comes up with I think ridiculous pleas whenever it’s a young white guy,” Williams said. “I’m just telling you what my observation is. If this had been a black kid who did the same thing, we wouldn‘t be talking about three months’ probation,” the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.

“Now that the court has essentially called me a racist, I think that’s unfair. I don’t make offers based on race. I make offers based on facts,” Catanzarite responded to the paper.

When Williams was asked in court if he was rejecting the deal only because the defendant was white, he gave seemingly conflicting answer: “Not because he’s white, but because it’s a ridiculous plea that only goes to white boys that come into this court for the same facts, and I’m not going for it.”

This isn‘t the first time race has come up in Williams’s court. The Tribune-Review reports that last week he denied a request by a black man for a re-trial because the jury in the case was all white, but admitted that the jury probably didn‘t understand Bey’s rough upbringing.

Yes he does, because sadly that's is the reality in america. You can watch any of those asinine cop shows and see just how differently white cops handle white offenders and white cops handle non-white offenders. This judge only spoke the truth to what goes on and speaking from the inside, he does know what is going on. Now lets take the charge that was laid on this man..fighting with a police officer...the Black defendant would more than likely have been killed with a long LIE told about how he supposedly had a gun and was going to shoot the white cop. In this case the man was white and was offered nothing more than a plea deal. The Black judge essentially told you this is what would happen if there was a white judge in the case... and he was labeled racist...then a white judge steps up and what happens...the white guy gets a plea deal. Reverse the situation...let a Black man go to trial over fighting with a white cop and he will get the maximum amount of time allowable followed by a lengthy probation.

BTW did you see the article about the white NYC cop that was drunk and ran over and killed a Black woman on her way home from church? The white cop got 90 days in jail...now let it had been a Black male who was drunk and ran over a white cop and see what would have happened...more than likely he would have been killed by another white cop...NOT RACIST...JUST REALITY.

This is more garbage and lies.  Having spent time in Bronx/Brooklyn criminal court - I have seen blacks and puetro ricans get away with near murder with no repurcutions.  Its a revolving door of excuses and ACD (Ajounment in Contemplation of Dismissal) to where even the most violent acts get thrown out and excused.

I'm white, few people I deal with are white.  I didnt see my first black person until 6:15 a.m. at Dunkin Donuts, why would i hate black people, i am around them all the time . . . I'm from a city and area with almost entire minority population.  I really didnt get to know any black people until the far left tried to bus me to even worse areas as a kid.  Before that I only encounted them everywhere.   So why the hell would i hate black people Hugo?

Okay, so in your opinion, the judge spoke his "truth" and thats fine with you...

Here is another truth.... Cops that work the east side of my city arrest 90% to 95% Black and Hispanic males. The black and hispanic males on the east side are selling drugs, stealing cars, burglarizing homes, robbing individuals and businesses... So if the cop says "Most criminals are black and hispanic" which is "his truth" he would get days off or terminated for the comment... But its NOT RACIST.. JUST REALITY... do you agree?
